Take the L on this one. Yep. And if you are really that concerned with the health of a fish you will quit fishing. Ain't nobody here going to do that. Ryan Miloshewski, nomolites and laker67 3

DADAKOTA Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Wasn't trying to call him out. Just anti-boga. Yes, they can be used properly. However, many of the pics I see on the internet they are used improperly and can really mess up the fish. More pics using bogas encourages folks to use them and most will not take the time or make the effort to use them properly. Same problem with culling buoys that puncture the jaw. Too many folks use them improperly and rip a huge hole in the fish. I've caught way too many that had the huge hole in them thus making it hard for them to feed. Result is sickly fish and I'd guess death. fshndoug 1
MoCarp Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Personally I’m not a fan of the device…you people get salty because you are a sissy and don’t want any icky on you…fact is it’s not good for the fish….I still want to see someone get that trout guts facial MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Flysmallie Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 If you really want to protect those fish you will quit fishing for them all together. laker67 1
laker67 Posted November 12, 2021 Author Posted November 12, 2021 Those do not look like the typical boga injury. I am not questioning you , just making an observation. Almost genetic or something. Foghorn, nomolites and BilletHead 3
MoCarp Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Once upon a time, people gaffed and bludgeoned big trout….people will always push buttons…across the pond they notch fins to f-up the next guys photo with the fish, not doing that here yet at least MONKEYS? what monkeys?

I said prior to this that the manufacturer should supply a helpful hint page on the proper use of one. You can still weight a fish using one. Just leave the fish in the net and hook the boga on the net. Sub tract the weight of the net and there you go. I use a digital scale on the net, but only by choice. Here is my formula for boga use and I know that Marty and others use it also. Fish in net, leave net in good water, attach boga to fish's mouth and let go, get camera ready, when fish has settled grip boga, slide open hand under fish's belly and go up all in one motion. Take picture and return fish back to net using same motion. Unhook boga and let fish stay, in the net, in good water until he is ready to swim off. No stress and no foul . I have handled hundreds of big trout in the same manner. I could not tell you when the last time I stressed any fish. It works for me and I have confidence in it. Use it as a controlling tool and I guarantee you will have less teeth marks in a sore thumb at the end of the day. BilletHead and Flysmallie 2
