I fought with keeping dry flys floating for years, but I finally figured it out.

Here's what you need...

https://www.madriveroutfitters.com/p-6493-frogs-fanny.aspx

I treat them with Ginks immediately after I tie them, let the Ginks dry out before putting them in my box, and then do the Frog's Fanny treatment on the water after they get slimed and soaked.  👍

I've also heard that if you liberally rub Ginks into a spool of thread you won't even need to treat the fly at all.   Haven't tried that though because I don't really care to have specific spools of thread for drys.

I do know that the dubbing wax I have sinks like a rock.....so I don't use any.

Spit floats 😁

Dissolve some parrafin in some white gas and treat your flies with that. Floats ‘‘em great. Removes fish slime, can start a fire with it.

Hats, coffee mugs, and stickers on the way. 😁

If only I had one of those sweet OA hats and T-shirts with the new logo.......

Who do I have to blow to get one of those?

Awesome Glen!  Great to see you getting press, BTW - I might already have added a few of those to my dry box…..

If you got a can of Camp Dry laying around or even Scotch Guard, pin a hand full of those fresh tied dries to the inside of a box or some place where they cant' fly off and soak them with that stuff, when it gets dry it might be pretty water repellent.

I've read numerous times that George Gherke took a jar of Albolene and thinned it to make Gink. I don't know if that is true or not, but I use the Albolene full strength and it works for me. Keeps the hands nice and soft too.

A convenient little bottle of Gink is cheap enough and lasts me a long time, so I don't see the need in concocting anything to substitute it.

I treat them with Gink (it lives on the tying bench....not in my waist pack) as soon as they come off the vise, then use Frogs Fanny to dry them off after landing a fish.  That's what I carry on stream, and that stuff works great.
