Visit the Christian forums, the Disney forum, the Marine or Auto tech forums, or basically any other forum, and see if those same ads pop up.       Bet ya they don't.   

The reason they do pop-up on SOME forums is because the owner of said forum gets paid, or otherwise compensated, for allowing them.

I absolutely swear that my phone listens and selects ads based on what it hears.  A few weeks ago I made a comment about having trouble getting jeans that fit well because I no longer have a butt.  My wife and I laughed about it.  Within 24 hrs an add appeared for a company that makes belts for guys with no butts.  And similar things have have happened often enough to convince me that my phone listens.  Well jokes on them because I have a boring life.

YOUR PHONES LISTEN TO YOUR CONVERSATIONS....  My wife and most of her friends work for cable companies, all of the cell phone companies, microsoft, cisco, google, you name it.  THEY LISTEN!!!  THEY TRACK!!  THEY POSITION ADS BASED ON THAT INFO!!

Nobody is denying that, but those ads don't just pop up EVERYWHERE.  Facebook? Sure!   

And the ads here are so ridiculously random that it's either funny, or annoying.    I'm so sick of seeing this hussy that I could throw my phone across the room.  I haven't spoken a word about Island travel.....ever.

 

If it's listening then where are all the outboard parts ads, and fly tying material ads ?      I haven't seen a single one, and those conversations happen constantly around my phone.

Ok... just checked out what I could do.  I already had blocked some obvious categories but they've given me a new way to manage ads since I've visited the panel.  I've blocked a bunch of them.  See if it makes a difference.  Might have to give it a day or two... not sure.

I've clicked those ads that say, "See vintage photos of...." fill in the blank.  They are old time depression images or  "Can't explain these images".  Then I'll get some of the the ads FW is getting.  So I know it happens.  I've clicked on some of them and said "I don't want to see this kind of ad again" but that doesn't work.  I gave up.

Ah heck Phil, the ads make zero difference if I am on the site or not.  Personally I would rather you take time and go crappie fishing or something.
