Fish24/7 Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Finally finally finally got my first ripe Belgium Pink tomato. Man this year sucks weather wise. Trying to grow maters that hate anything over 90° isn't easy. Should have about a dozen ready by the end of the weekend if they don't cook on the vine first, dang. Sunflowers are done, first time growing them and it was a success, they got big just like the seed pack said about 14-15' tall, big heads about 12-14" wide. Not bad for a rookie. Picking cherry tomatoes every other day about 20lbs of em a week off 7 plants About to harvest the first red and yellow bell peppers, man they take forever to change from green. Jalapeno plants are getting quite large almost 5' tall now and bushy. Bees are going nuts on everything , finally! snagged in outlet 3 1
jdmidwest Posted July 21, 2022 Author Posted July 21, 2022 Pulled about 25 gallons honey off three hives this week. 4 gallon going to a brewmeister for beer or liquor. Hive beetles were working hard on one set of supers in 4th hive, I fed it back to all of the bees. It's a dearth around here, bees coming from all directions to clean my super frames. They can smell open honey from miles away this time of year. snagged in outlet 3, Fish24/7 and BilletHead 3 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. They told me the farmers market on Saturday is about it. In my area back in st charles county you can’t drive 2 miles without seeing a table out full of at tomatoes for sale. I’ve asked around and people look at me like I’m nuts. I don’t get it🤷♂️

Like those Amish grown tomatoes I've seen and tried that are supposed to be delicious , YUK , couldn't tell the difference between them and Wal Mart tomatoes lol beautiful looking, but taste like crap Maverickpro201 1

I pass one of their little stores every day and their tomatoes are fabulous, don't keep qell but they do s.ell and taste like a mater should. Right now they have a bunch of cantaloupe and if I have a seakness it is for cantaloupe. 5 for 4 dollars and I tend to dig around in the big bin and get over ripe ones, can't hardly stand the ride on home they stink so bad. But dammm are they good. Stopped last night for some plums and nectarines. The had a couple of boxes of "soft" ones, 6 cantaloupe for $2. Took all of my willpower not to have them also, but still had a couple on the porch from last stop. Tonight however if they are still there I will own them and if I have to drive around and find folks to take a free cantaloupe so be it. bfishn 1

Folks buy wholesale at Amish country stores and markets. Mark it up and sell roadside stands and in farmers markets. Fish24/7 Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Well it seems I thwarted another theft last night. It was around 1:30am. Just happened to be outside drinking a beer stargazing and heard something walking in the woods on my property. Grabbed the spot light and saw a shirtless man who looked like the typical mountain man stereotype. How he was walking through the woods with no flashlight was beyond me. I didn't say anything just kept the light shining on him as he crossed the road and back into the woods. One warning shot was fired . Maverickpro201 and snagged in outlet 3 2
