I was searching to see if I could find something on the Mountain Home hospital ER where they have a display (so I am told) of lures they have removed from fishermen over the years, could not find anything, but found this story of a NY hospital that does have one.

Man JD that is cringe worthy... I've only buried a barb once and my thumb was so frozen i didn't realize i had ripped it out till I kept seeing blood on the front of my waders.  Pulled glove off,  dumped out blood, squished meat back into the hole, a little super glue and I was back fishing...

Our ER definitely has that Lure collection. They get really pissy about it if you don’t want to surrender the bait. A word to the wise, cut the hooks off the bait prior to going to the ER. Leave the bait at home.

There are several baits I would love to have out of that box. Some oldies but goodies that you can’t buy anymore.

That’s an Ouchie JBG.

this was where Cajun Anglers Walk The Dog bait ended up after a fish threw it. It didn’t hurt. We popped it out with the string trick.

Ride to ER, some lidocane and a few nicks with a scalpel and they were out.  Back to the river with my gloves on to keep infection away and marinated in Barley and Hops for pain.  Floated on thru that day.  Those Flickershads have wicked sharp hooks with a goofy bend in them.

I deflected a 3 hook Rapala stick bait with my wrist on a float one day.  Buried a barb into a tendon.  That was a booger to get out, but I had one hand free to do it.

I have had them in fingers, knees, leg, and wrist.  But joining two index fingers with one treble, and a flopping 10" trout on the other hook, was a climax.  I hope.

Hope that wasn't in saltwater. Vibrio virus from the salt is pretty nasty stuff.

Nah, I think that was the Niangua. I can't get Johnny to try Saltwater with me.
