Where is this kayak tournament letting out of?

Or do you put in anywhere you want on the lake?

You can launch from any public launching area. Launch time for MoYak tournament is 6am with lines in at 630am. Lines out by 230pm.

If it's like any kayak tournament I've fished, the light is required during low light conditions and a lot of them require the flags as well. It still can be difficult to see them, especially in waves if they're crossing the main channel.

There's definitely an elephant in the room with all of this, and Blue's "crossing the main channel" gets right at it.

Used in creeks, coves, sheltered areas there is much less chance of tragedy.

Trying to cross big water, and play out with the big boats? 🐘

I doubt anyone will be crossing main channels in kayaks this Saturday with that wind. There will be huge rollers and white caps. It is going to be a challenge for sure...especially after 10am. They are calling for 10-20mph wind from the south with gusts in the 25-40mph range.

I fish a good number of kayak tournaments. I always try to time my crossings when nobody is coming. I also have a bright orange kayak, so that helps. The guys in the blue/green/white camo colors though, they're almost invisible.

It’s crazy how difficult they can be to see at times.  You would think it would be no problem but it’s not.

Just my opinion, but holding a kayak tournament on the state's busiest tournament lake during its busiest tournament month (April) just seems to be inviting tragedy. Do we really have to learn this lesson the hard way? And it's not only the bass boat vs. kayak issue ... the big boats are coming out now, too, many piloted by drunken garden-variety idiots.
