How could anyone at that time have used God's word for control....when nobody was even aware of God, or aware that he had spoken any words?   

Please consider the timeline of events that you are making assumptions about.  There was no TV, no Radio, no Schools, no Books.  People communicated by grunting and snorting.

Actually in Jesus time the people were very sophisticated.  But the Pharisees were using God's word to control and get rich. 

Dogs were considered unclean but Jewish liked Cats.

NO they are not. Can anyone here picture wrench sitting at church, listing to the speaker, with his mind being filled with MORE questions. I could see him trapping that poor soul in the hallway afterwards and giving him the “wrench” treatment on religious things.
