bobby b. Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 The Missouri State Water Patrol reports the driver of a pontoon hit a group of swimmers before the boat hit a rock bluff Sunday afternoon. The accident happened in an area known as Breezy Point, near State Park Marina.
bobby b. Posted July 11, 2022 Author Posted July 11, 2022 There are only 2 types of boats on this end of the lake this time of year - wake boats and pontoon rentals from Indian Point Marina. Even with the high cost of gas, it seems to be as bad (or worse) than ever. SO SAD. Prayers for those involved in the accident and for all of us to stay safe this summer.
fishinwrench Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Interesting wording there. If the "Driver did it", then how was it an "accident"? The driver hit the swimmers..... But the Boat hit the bluff. 🤔

You are right plus State park and long creek pump out the rentals too. That’s the diving bluff I think. I’m surprised there aren’t more accidents there. Crazy situation if you’ve ever been there.
Quillback Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Very sad and tragic, hate to see something like this happen.
Ketchup Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Ran over/killed his 15 year old daughter. They say he fell forward with it an an idle, and grabbed the throttle on accident and ran them over. snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 KOAM spoke with MSHP Troop D today. According to authorities, they suspected the driver of the pontoon of being intoxicated, however, the alcohol test showed negative for alcohol.

From what i heard from the inside is, he was idling up towards the swimmers when he tripped/stumbled and just happened to grab the throttle on accident causing full power and couldn’t stop it until it hit the bluff. They did test him on scene, which is customary. Just happened that his daughter was swimming right in front of it. No kill switch attached. MarkG52 and snagged in outlet 3 2 TinBoats BassClub. Those accidents, like in this case are usually followed by some type of charge, i.e: involuntary manslaughter, careless operation of a water vessel, etc. but the guy will live the rest of his life asking for a redo of those 5 seconds of his life. snagged in outlet 3, fishinwrench and Daryk Campbell Sr 3 TinBoats BassClub.
