I have several times when gun hunting went to sleep on the ground and had the deer wake me at just the right time. I can't get that comfortable up a tree.

Wow.  I could never go to sleep in the woods during rifle season.  Even though our group was reliable we always had red neck trespassers who I would never trust.

I was armed,  ya know, gun season. But I've slept out in the woods at odd times since I was in second grade. People usually let you know when they are 1/4 mile away just by their breathing. And all the normal woods sounds change with any new arrival.

I have been hunting from hang-on stands so long I am very comfortable; always harnessed, and for me it is all about the seating…I carry in a memory foam seat I have sewn a shoulder strap onto which attaches to my stands with velcro and I can sit all day on that thing, and sometimes do.  To each there own…I enjoy my birds eye view of sunrises and sunsets, and the critters never know I’m there.  Good like all…it is time…I plan to get serious(when not traveling) between now and the 10th.

I have hunted a lot from the ground with a rifle. I can't fire a bow while seated on the ground, so I have never really done that.

I have one hub blind that is the best thing ever for turkeys. I have used it for deer as well, but not in recent years. It's the place to be when the weather is nasty.

99% of the time I am in my Summit Openshot climber. It has pros and cons like anything. There is no wrap-around bar like most climbers, so it's much lighter and you can climb the back side of your tree and sit sideways, essentially hiding behind it. It's not nearly as comfortable as some though. I personally think it's safer and simpler than using sticks and a hang on, although it's much more limited in what trees you can climb.

Heights don't really bother me that much and I prefer to be elevated.

I have left the house to go hunting with full intention of going to sleep in one if a few spots that were exposed to a nice warm sun and out of a cold wind.  Nothing spoils a deer hunt faster than shooting a deer.  My wife has a kill house I built for her but sleeping in it will leave you all stove up.

I’m another that heights don’t bother me. I have hunted 30’ up when trees are bare to see over ridges, and down as far as 10’ up, tho i try to get right at 20’ if possible. At that height my scent if elevated enough that it blows over animals, but not to high up to have to shoot straight down.

Seen a video the other day where a guy shot a buck. He was on a power line right-of-way and appeared to be above the wires. Looked like he shot between wires, or inches under. Made a good shot tho.

I do set up my pop up for bad days behind the house. Last year was the first year ever that I didn’t hunt out of a tree. But with that said, this is the first time, at this stage of season, that I haven’t been out yet.

Only guys my age will remember the episode where Underdog threw the harpoon between the wires of an electrical sub-station and saved the planet from the wrath of Sinister McGreed.   👍

When I first started Archery Hunting not very many hunted from a tree.

I would stand just off the trail, smoke cigarettes,  let the Deer go by me, then shoot one getting a good hit. Did well.

Then everyone started Hunting from a tree. I did well Hunting from a tree but didn't care for the angel.

Went back to  Hunting from the ground did just as good if not better.

Most Deer I ever killed from one spot was three with a Muzzleloader . Shot two then had one snorting behind me, reloaded and shot it.
