Daryk Campbell Sr Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Those look great. I like how you played it. Well done on both sides. fishinwrench 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. FishnDave Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 I'm no expert... but at first glance I was sure that was Trout Crack! 😜
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 are the first couple flies free
jdmidwest Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Looks like a yellow royal coachman crackleback. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

Yeah I've really latched onto this broken body "theme", but with more contrast than the typical dark-on-dark coachman thing. Our success with the Dalmatian Trude has me exploring other ways to incorporate it. I'm convinced that I'm on to something here, but I haven't exactly figured it out yet. 🤔 Silhouetted against the sky, it gives an effect that nothing else really does......I think. tjm 1
tjm Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 I've tied the palmer with yellow floss body and with peacock body but the combo is one I haven't done yet. I will steal that idea from you now. Back when I first started the Royal Coachman was my favorite, tied hundreds of them in sizes from ~#20-#10, every wing style Fan Wing to Variant. Caught lots of fish on them too. I believe there is something about that body that works. I haven't tied one in years now though and I don't know why. fishinwrench 1

The problem with red floss though, is that when wet it just looks BROWN, especially when looking from underneath. A color combo that truly contrasts at every light angle regardless....... especially a color that resembles FISH EGGS or insect egg sacks !!!! Dude, that's just gotta work, right? 👍 Add that with a general body style of a Crackleback/Wooly Worm/ Griffiths Gnat.......I mean it just doesn't get any more "proven" than that. How can the Legal Weed not be the most productive fly to ever evolve? I mean c'mon! I should go down in the anals of flyfishing fame for this one! 😁 Can you tell that I'm stoned? 😂 fshndoug 1
tjm Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 I think it's more the wasp waist than it is color, I tied some RC with yellow floss back then and results were about equal to the red. Used a bright green too. I will bet that your 420 catches trout and I'll guess that like your Dalmation, the magazines will say it is a "midge cluster". I guess that "midge cluster" explains the Adams and the RC too. Anything that's not designated Caddis must be Midge.
