Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 11, 2023 Root Admin Posted January 11, 2023 Put in at River Run about noon. Headed down and hit Barker and the flats below there. Saw a few schools of what I think were crappie but no takers. Saw more fish on the bottom in 18 to 22 feet of water - again no takers. Jigs and soft plastics. About 12 boats out, mostly trolling real slow. I didn't see any action. Nice to to be out! Water temp 46. bfishn and Johnsfolly 2
navery Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 I have seen those as well on my graph. Very isolated and not many. I think they are Crappie or yellow perch. I got into a school of yellow perch back in November and caught 14 using minnows. Johnsfolly 1
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 12, 2023 Author Root Admin Posted January 12, 2023 These were moving too fast to get anything to them. By the time my jig sung to the depth, they moved on.
fshndoug Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Crappie usually stay in one place when they are in deep water.

Hardly worth your time. If they are suspended crappie then it's a school of yearlings from last Spring 2022. Keep following them for 730 days and you'll have something worth opening the livewell lid for. 😁 Jerry Rapp and Royal Blue 2
Dutch Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Maybe they were whites. They move around like a bunch of 8th grade boys.

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 12, 2023 Author Root Admin Posted January 12, 2023 I didn't follow them... one right decision at least. I have a lot to learn! Ron Burgundy 1
