Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services puts out a fish advisory report every once and a while. I don't know if they test for those things, but they do test for stuff like Clordane, PCB's, Mercury, and Lead.

Pretty hard, these days, to consume the proteins and vitamins that you need to survive .......without getting a dose of something that is potentially harmful.

The fact that most of us are grossly overweight from eating too much.....yet we are still alive......speaks volumes.

"These things, if consumed, can kill you!".

Really? Yikes!.......but WHEN?

Which brings up another curiosity/inquiry. ---  Out of the blue, and for no reason at all, we received 4 free Covid tests in the mail last week 🤔.   Did EVERYONE get those, or just those of us who have no record of ever getting the vaccine?

We did not get any tests in the mail, nor have we vaccinated.

Back when I was a teenager there was a lot of talk about Pork killing people, Grandpa said he knew that was a fact, that eating pork had killed Grandma's grandfather years before. I asked how they knew it was pork that killed the man, and Grandpa said ''the old  man ate two pork chops for breakfast every day for years and one morning he choked to death on one''. Then he told me that the old guy was 96 when the pork killed him.

Aside from air, food wrap, popcorn bags, cartons, carpets, tap water, dairy products, even mother's milk can contain PFAS.

Someone in your home requested those Covid tests and didn’t own up to it,

I don't think so.  There's only one person besides me that could have.    We are on the same page, and she was equally perplexed.  Borderline offended actually.🤷‍♂️. Even asked me if she should throw them in the trash, or keep them.

I told her to give them to one of the neighbors who go get a Covid test everytime they find themselves reaching for a tissue.

I'm skeptical anytime someone, especially the government, is adamant about freely teaching me something that I never inquired about in the first place.

Why don't they freely teach us how to save money on our taxes?.....or other helpful & life saving topics?   Noooo, you have to study and dig deeply for THAT kinda information.    They don't care about the welfare of you or your children unless it benefits THEM in some way.

"We want you to know if you have Covid.  And we care about you SO MUCH that we want to pay for your tests.".     Yeah Right🙄. GTFOH.  Even if it is an admission of culpability, it's still questionable.

It’s so crazy because I’ve done a deep dive on this lately as I was going to stay at my friends house next spring on torch lake and travel the area and fish some of the nearby streams for brown trout steelhead salmon etc.

I got to thinking that I should fish torch lake even though he warned me that it was tough to fish. I looked it up and found out that people catch Atlantic salmon out of it. I noticed that there is a do not eat warning associated with that species because of high concentrations of mercury, PolyChlorinated Biphenyls (PCB’s), and dioxins. That is where the rabbit hole started…

From what I gather much of the state has high levels of PFAS in the river systems and they’ve gone about warning people many times not to eat the fish and have published species specific guides on consumption.

There’s a lot of ambiguity on what the safe levels are but I believe it was either the EPA or the state of Michigan declaring that 19 ppm was the high tolerance for drinking water. Some of the fish they have tested are showing up with HUNDERDS of thousands of ppm in them.

Apparently a bunch of the pollution is caused from all the manufacturing in the state and is also in Lake Michigan. The other major factor is the fact that the military constantly does drills using fire fighting foam which is loaded with PFAS. Some of the stuff I read says it’s contaminated groundwater up to 100 miles away from these bases.

3M Has been under fire for a long while about the pollution they manufacture and only just recently stopped producing PFAS.

Its been hard for me to discern between environmentalist pearl clutching and real deal environmental emergency. That said the whole point of my trip was that my son wanted to go camping in the wild and eat what we catch and I told him that we are going to find somewhere else to go..

Years ago we caught 2 big flatheads from the Missouri river, just up from the confluence of the Osage.   When dressing them out the smell of the meat was odd, reminded me of diesel fuel.  And one of them had a really swollen stomach.    I cut it open, and inside the stomach was a 15" long piece of what appeared to be plastic coated foam weatherstripping.

We couldn't get over the fact that the meat smelled like diesel.....so we pitched it in the woods.   2 days later it was still there. Not even a coon/possum/buzzard wanted to eat it.

I had the same thing happen with a flathead I caught out of Bull Shoals.  It had a plastic tube bait in its stomach that had swelled to 4x its normal size.  The meat and everything smelled like fuel.  I tossed it.
