They are all top shelf in my book. So: Boiled, peeled and iced fresh shrimp with my cocktail sauce. Fresh raw oysters opened in front of me. Fried oysters done the right way. Shrimp cocktail at a good Mexican restaurant. Crawfish etoufee. Again, done right. Etoufee is especially sensitive to needing a cook who knows what's what in the kitchen. Really meaty Maryland crab cakes. Lobster Roll done the right way. Lobster bisque with lobster bits. Crab, shrimp and scallop enchiladas. Crab dip - the kind served warm with spiced cream cheese. Quillback Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 One thing I really miss was going salmon fishing in Puget Sound and tossing the crab pots out on the way to the fishing and then pulling them on the way back to the ramp. Back then the limit was 6 Dungeness, on a good day you'd get a limit. There were also Red Rock Crabs, they liked rocky terrain (thus the name), a little smaller on average than Dungeness and you could keep a smaller size, Dungeness had to be something like 6" across the shell and Red Rocks 5". The Red Rocks had a little different taste, but were pretty good and meaty like the Dungeness. I never have seen Red Rocks in restaurants or stores for sale, dunno why, maybe too hard to harvest commercially. Used to save the salmon heads and backbones left after filleting to use as crab bait. grizwilson Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 I am good with about anything except Tilapia, think I am eating shad, can not get past the smell, raw oysters stop up my kidneys so have to chase with cranberry juice..... kjackson Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 I'm drooling as I write this; I really miss shellfish. Geoduc steaks... Oysters-- the last place I lived we were a 15 minute drive to a spot where it took 10 minutes to get a limit of Pacific oysters--half of a five-gallon bucket. Razor clams Horse clams turned into fritters or chowder Dungeness or rock crab--had a couple of local places where I would wade flats at minus tides and scoop he buggers up with a pitch fork, kinda like hunting. The only problem is that between the pots and wading, I pretty much got tired of crab. Quillback and Johnsfolly 2

Les I agree with not wanting to eat tilapia. Store bought farm raised tasted like dog food to me. I have had fresh tilapia and it was decent. I also feel that farm raised catfish is a no go as well. If I can help it I try not to buy tiger shrimp or any farm raised shrimp. Sorry about the oyster deal. We have been getting into getting flights of oysters from different locations and there is a marked difference in flavors. Definitely have some favorites and some that we would not order again.
