Pretty cool, thank you.

I can't dance like I used to.

In St Louis city, they were always considered rats with wings. They are usually found in the trasier areas of the city. I enjoyed watching them play about,  but never considered housing or keeping any.

I always appreciated the purple shine they have.  I don't understand the need or benefit,  but I always thought it was neat.

Those are not in the same league as these. Birmingham Rollers have a massive following worldwide. They are the Musky in a pond full of minnows.

Lots of famous people have rollers. Mike Tyson is a big name in the pigeon world.

Wonder if he was ever a stool pigeon?

Grandpa used to have pigeons, but they were just for colors.  He would pick up different breeds for colors.  White, rusty, irridesant.  They would raise and become wild for the most part, hang around the barn and roost there, nest there.  Back in the day, when things got tough, they became easy food.

Pigeon shoots were big money deals back when.

Maybe you folks have heard about Cher Ami, the pigeon that brought a message out from the "Lost Battalion" during WWI.  The bird is on display at the Smithsonian.

What a story!

Little did I know when I woke up this morning I'd be learning about pigeons. Pigeons saving lives, krauts shooting down pigeons, pigeons that can't fly, and pigeons that can fly for a minute then stall out and tumble.

It brings to mind this favorite (not) from childhood:
