20230516_084546.jpgJeff joined me this morning.  We started around 06:00 and fished until 12:15.  We covered a lot of water and threw a lot of baits.  We never really could pattern them.  It seemed like there was one every half mile no matter what kind of bank.  The closest we came was points but not many of them.  As best as I remember swim baits and jigs were what caught fish.  We hoped for a top water bite but only had 1 on a spook.

Jeff whipped me again. I had 3 non keepers.  He had 6 bass including a 4# lmb and a keeper mean mouth and a keeper greenie.  He also had 2 keeper crappie and a flathead.

I was going to go this morning up just got done working 8 nights in a row.  My sleep schedule is all out of whack woke up at 1 AM and been up since. Going to give it another shot tomorrow. What kind of water temp were you guys seeing? Any mud? I went of Lake Springfield a little bit ago and it is chocolate milk

Flat at the bridge looks like the inside of a butterfinger candy bar.  James actually looks clearer than the last time I was down there.  Water temps on my birds were 74° to 77°.

I have no clue what is going on.  I guess we need to launch at the SK bridge and follow Babler around.

That wouldn’t have work in your favor Friday.

I’ll give her a try in the morning and see. I got a solid tip from an old derby buddy. He claimed to have 17 pounds today.

That really means he had closer to 20 cause he short sheets them every time.

Something I have just not done but if Phil Lilley bass fished much I’m sure he would be great at it.

Turns out i didnt have to go to the lake to get a bass today, My 8 year old went to the neighborhood pond overflow and found a 3 inch largemouth, brought it home in his hand, now im nursing it to health in a minnow bucket.  I guess it would have died if he left it in the drainage. hopefully we can take him back to the pond in the morning.....but it already has a name

Pretty much matches what we’ve experienced. Yesterday fished from 2:00 to 7:00 and had nine total with three keepers one of which was a really nice Kentucky that shook out of my brothers hand at the side of the boat as he waited for me get my phone. Really wanted a photo to post so Bobby could see a Spot from the dam area!

All others were largemouth and all came out of little coves in Big Indian.

Caught fish on Ned, Keitech, a little red and white Roadrunner and one of Bo’s bladed jigs.

Threw spinnerbait quite a bit without a sniff.

The afternoon pretty much sums up our week (didn’t fish Monday - played golf which also sucked) other than the first couple of days we caught primarily smallmouths but not a single one yesterday.

Probably gonna run up the James a ways today just for some variety. Would have tried that already but all the storms popping up from here to everywhere scared us off.
