I’ve chummed the Atlantic, the gulf and the pacific.   If it swells, I have the chum line out immediately😂.   Even with Dramamine.

I have been seasick one time, and it was bad.  However, I'd chum, and you kind of recover for a few minutes after chumming, so I picked up my rod and kept fishing and got my limit of silvers that day.  On a charter and it's not coming back until everyone limits.  There were 8 of us on the boat that day and all of us were sick to one degree or another.  Swells with wind chop on top, it was tough to stay on your feet.

Had to go out to an oil drilling platform out in the gulf once to do a software upgrade.  You fly out to those things on a helicopter.  As we were hovering above that very small looking landing pad, you could see the platform slowly going up and down in the swells.  I thought uh-oh, I could be in trouble, but as you check-in once you land, they had a medic present that asks you a few health questions and he asked if I might get seasick, I said it sure is a possibility, so he gave me a couple of pills, and I was fine for the 24 hours I was out there.  And that was good as they have excellent food on those rigs,

I’ve never stopped fishing.  The swells were so big off of Rhode Island that you couldn’t see anything but a wall of water around us.  We killed the stripers!

In Maui the first mate said to drink a beer.   I laughed while puking and said no I think I’m good.  He insisted it works and they keep beer on board just for that.   Sure enough it calmed my stomach right down.

Never heard of the beer thing, heard of drinking a 7 up.  The charter guys never made any suggestions or offered us anything.  If I ever go on the salt again, I'm getting the prescription stuff.  Dramamine is next to worthless IMO.

Fantasamo!  Love it when a plan comes together as yours most certainly did.  have you invested in a full sink line?

I have a 300 grain full sink. It wasn’t anything close to enough.

So, I was up until 11:30 after trying for Ratfish off the dock. I knew it was a long shot, but I had to try. I caught a Copper Rockfish and another Pacific Cod while trying. 9C5DECB2-4287-4E0D-AF62-1F5B0E225728.jpegB539C3CA-7893-487C-9A97-00892067B1D8.jpegI woke with leg cramps multiple times and gave up at 0400 and mostly packed up. I hopped in The boat at 0530 when I was given the green light to go.
Really nasty on my spot this morning. I hung in there. I got my last keeper Coho at 0553. He hit while I was rigging my second rod.

started trying for Hally. It was super tough in 5 foot swells. I got a Big Quillback. Then a dang salmon ate my swimbait. 677070F8-ECF6-4ABF-997A-DF82750B100D.jpegThen I got my Lifer Yelloweye Rockfish. Nice pull, but a lot of work from 259 foot of water. The descending device is awesome, but sucks to wind in.

I changed spots and found much better seas. And caught another Coho while trying to drop the swimbait.

I got my first Hally and decided I rather do without them keep one that small. Next drop I got my keeper Hally.
Choosey Mom’s choose Jif, but today I could not be choosey. I’m glad I filled my limits. I headed in and got my stuff squared away for the flight out.
Lots more I want to say about the trip and the lodge, but I gotta jump on a helicopter

I'm going to take the rare perceived-safe opportunity to speak for everyone here...

I wanna be at that fish fry!

I can't dance like I used to.

I'd have to have a phone app or depend on a guide just to figure out some of the fish you were catching. Guess part of your pre-planning included studying the fish in that water.

Dad was playing ball in the old Pacific Coast League towards the end of his career and had an off date one day after a night game. Some of the players including Lou Pinella were on board for the trip so they began drinking beer. Evidently the amount they consumed was a little on the too much side. They ate saltine crackers and spent a good portion of their time hanging their heads over the side of the boat.
