I appreciate all the tips and feedback.  Thanks 👍

However, I still got my butt handed to me. 😔

Started at Bolivar because after driving all the way around the lake that's where all the visible bait and noticable surface action was......But it was TOO MUCH.   Blankets of dime sized shad bigger than my boat were everywhere, and I got the impression that even though the fish were gorging on them they weren't singling out individual bites.   Appeared to me that they were herding the shad into tight balls.....then charging through them with their mouth open, gulping 8-10 shad at a time.     Wore my arms out casting and stripping, while blowups were happening all around me....and barely even got any fish smell on my hands.

Was a pleasant few days though.  I sure do love spending time on a lake that isn't full of PWC's and Scarab's.

Oh yeah....if you're headed to the Bolivar ramp WATCH OUT for that 2' deep sink hole in the middle of the road. Jesus Christ!  Drop a wheel off in that sumbitch and you'll bust an axle!  😳

Any muskie?  I have been able to catch at least 1 every time I go in Sept or Oct.

I always go in at Wheatland Park near Hermitage.

No musky bites, or even sightings, this trip.

Years ago during a high water period my partner and I each caught 1 and had another blow up right at the boat that didn't get hooked. Scared us both half to death😅    They were cruising the flooded grass and trees along the shoreline in the backend of Decker branch.

That sinkhole was patched yesterday and will away completely next week.  Road will be closed for a couple days to do it.

I am with ya on the Muskie, dang lure stealing bastages.

I am not a top water guy but some of my fishing buddies are, we just have never had great results fishing for whites on top.  Give me a blue chrome rattle trap or a curly/paddle tail jig in white, yellow, orange, pink whatever and it is game on.

It has been one of those weeks for some reason..

Poor bug eyed sob, rotten tail, malnurished.  Probably got a big wad of stink bait on a treble in his gullet and trying to pass it.  Got a good case of the tail rot too.
