What you say?

I am looking at buy a pellet smoker. Do not need a big, big one. Probably about 30'' in width of grilling space. Really considering a 850 pit boss.

How do you like your pellet smoker.

Oh ya was looking at Menards and they have a 40 bag of pellets for $14.97 per bag.

That’s what I have and have had zero issues. I fought the urge for a long time and finally gave in. It was a good purchase.

I’ve heard all the issues. Auger locks up. Board goes out. Igniter quits. Someone blows the lid off when starting. I haven’t experienced any of that. I keep it covered most of the time, but it gets rained on too. I never take the pellets out like a lot recommend. I never vacuum the burn pot. I haven’t had a single issue.

And I love being able to connect to it. Kind of a gimmicky thing but when there’s a foot of snow on the ground it’s pretty cool to have the smoker temp and meat temp right on your phone. And be able to make adjustments.

Ive had 3 different Pit Boss. The first one was a 700 classic and it was great ended up giving it to my parents. Then i got a Laredo 1000 and it was just way to big, it took forever to get hot and went through a lot of pellets. I sold it and no have a smaller Sportsman 500 which is my favorite because of the size, I can still put 4 racks of ribs on it so it is plenty for me.  Ive never had any issues with any of mine and i use grill at least 3 times a week

I have been smoking meat in my old 5/16'' thick, 4' x 2.5 ' grill area and a 2' x 2.5' burn box, wood smoker for ever. It takes 4 guys to pick it up, it is so heavy, but holds the heat very very well. I used it a lot in Texas and now up here in Missouri. Always had a roof cover over it. I may sell it once I get a pellet smoker and if I like the way it smokes my meats.

Has anybody used their Pit Boss for making jerky?

My kids bought me a masterbuilt.  Didn’t finish the first smoke.   Computer out.   Got a replacement for free.   Computer out.   Returned it.   Still using an old cabellas cylinder that I’ve replaced the element in twice.  Doesn’t have a thermometer or anything.   I use it all the time.   Every time I look to buy a pellet smoker, I read the reviews, don’t buy one and throw a Boston butt on my old piece of crap.  😂

We have beer butt chicken going as I type. IMG_20230902_135056786.jpg

This thing was once on the front porch, but tried to burn the house down and launch itself to the moon.

For less than 100.00 I ordered everything electrical on it, rebuilt it, and it's been great ever since.    But nevertheless it only gets used out in the middle of the driveway now.

Never used a pellet smoker, but recently inherited an electric smoker.  I'm happy with it.  I bought a thermapro thermometer set that has 4 probes.  I can see the ambient temp on multiple levels and meat temperature on my phone.   Got some wings on the weber charcoal right now.

What did you do to launch it to the moon?

Apparently it kept feeding pellets when it wasn't supposed to, and then suddenly WOOFed!

Darn near blew the lid completely off, and had a flame shooting out of it like a jet engine.
