Sad but true

The whole group think in professional angling has become obnoxious.   If I hear one more simple minded dude drone-on about "Building his brand...Building your brand....Ya gotta BUILD THAT BRAND"..... I'm gonna puke.

I mean, in a group discussion about being unique you can't all use the same cliche !

Who was the first person to use that phrase? Because he/she needs an award.   That little ditty stuck HARD in the brains of the boatwrap community.

Now, y'all get busy building your brand, ya hear! 🤘

Everybody that's full of one-liners and won't shut up and get off the stage in a timely fashion, so someone else can weigh a fish, is just stealing Swindell's BRAND.    And anyone walking on stage in their underwear or a parka, is stealing Matt Robertson's brand.  You can't do cartwheels over the scales....without Fish Fishburns permission.    And don't be thanking GOD for your fish and doing Sunday service over the scales unless you want Hank Parker and Mark Davis to quit praying for ya.   No more dragging your shy & petrified children up there either....unless you're gonna beat their asses like you do when you are at home. 😅

I believe the spot is open for Playboy Bunny ears and a thong 🤔

It’s not my first choice but I’m not above using them.   I fish top down, fast to slow.

Oh I’ll use them if I have to but I’ve got Hellgrammites

You guys all know that I'd quit fishing and take up horseshoes if I had to fish a Nerd Rig.  I guess maybe that's my brand!  Well, that and making fish bite the fast moving stuff I like to fish.

I did like Wrench's description of "brands", though.  Iaconelli may be the most obnoxious, but the God botherers are a pretty close second.  Something just a little off about somebody crediting their good fortune in catching a few stupid fish to Jesus, while not far away there's a little kid dying of cancer.

The amazing thing about the whole bass fishing industry is that there IS still some innovation here and there.  There have been some pretty nice developments in lures in recent years, for instance.  Pretty sure most of them started out like Mitch's craw, figured out by some actual, thinking angler, who marketed it until it was successful and then got bought out by the big guys.  Who half the time let it fade into obscurity if it's not a top seller.  Don't even get me started about my favorite wading shoes, dropped by Adidas after they bought out the company that invented them.

But some of it can be blamed on us angers, too.  Too many of us demand "new and better" all the time.  Which really irks somebody like me who, when we find something that works, we want to keep buying it instead of the new and probably worse...but it's discontinued.
