dpitt Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Interesting, the data seems to indicate fish Taney April, May, June, July to increase odds for a Trophy, or might be when most people fish You can also see the increase in anglers COVID probably introduced. Thanks for sharing this. snagged in outlet 3 and Phil Lilley 2

I think almost all the guides report theirs as it’s a real thrill for the clients and they get a great keep sake memento. I think there are some regulars that don’t report anymore. I know in my boat alone we had 4 that would have gotten certificates last year that we didn’t report and a couple of those were over 23. I used to frame and hang all my certificates next to a framed picture of this fish. Makes an awesome display. Now days if you don’t catch at least one over 20 in a couple days of fishing we’ve done something wrong so we snap pics and release. Taney has spoiled all of us the past few years no doubt! So I do think there are quite a few that don’t get reported as well. I think it’s a fantastic deal that Lilleys does this and I love it and I truly think it’s helped the fishing! I appreciate everything Phil and the gang does for this lake we all love. Daryk Campbell Sr, crazy4fishin, dpitt and 6 others 9

Members walleye4butch Posted January 12 Members Posted January 12 I believe that there are more not reported, the most important detail is that they are released back into the lake. Used to see stringer shots on the wall at the old fall creek dock glad to see catch and release being the norm I myself am a convert. tjm and snagged in outlet 3 2
Ryan Miloshewski Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I think we all take for granted just how good of a fishery Taneycomo is--I know I do sometimes. Even with all the poaching, pressure, etc. it's still producing big fish. This program and the work of Shane with MDC is truly awesome. I'm serious when I say I can darn near guarantee a 20-inch or better fish during a 4-6 hour fishing excursion. That is remarkable. tjm Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I asked that because if I had to keep the fish alive for weighing or measuring or if I had to go more than 100 yards out of my way, there is not one chance in a thousand that I'd report it. I might if it had a bounty on it, like the $25-$33 bounty per Brown Trout caught in AZ's Colorado River has or had. But even for $25, it's a maybe for me, it's just too easy to poke the hook out without having to handle the fish. I figure I can't be the only lazy guy that fishes. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 12 Author Root Admin Posted January 12 I'm sure there are a lot that are caught by guys who don't care about a pic. And one rule is that we require a pic. Not sure how to get around that... we may get too many false reports. Who knows. I know I caught 7-8 over 20 last year that aren't on the sheet. Daryk Campbell Sr and dpitt 2
Ryan Miloshewski Posted January 12 Posted January 12 There are quite a few I catch on the fly rod I don't take pics of. I think I had five over 20 (not much over) last year. But trying to take a pic wading alone is just not ideal for the fish. And, this is not arrogance, but you catch a 21-22-inch fish nowadays it isn't the same as it was 5-6 years ago. So many rainbows that size in there. It's amazing! tjm, nomolites, dpitt and 1 other 4 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
