I’ve caught a handful the past few years on cranks.  I never really thought about keeping one to eat.

Oh I've caught a bunch, but to go catch one ON PURPOSE is something that nobody, short of Hanna Barron, can do.

Drunk and disorderly no way to go thru life son

Funny one time I had some Summer Sausage that wasn't packed good. Looked like Dog Food.  No one would eat it.

After a few Beers it was the best thing there.

Flathead are good, for sure, but the only way to specifically target them is currently illegal.

Buddy's grandpa was a MO Water Patrol Sergeant for years in St. Clair and Hickory Counties. Him and his buddies would noodle every year and have a big fish fry for the MDC agents/reps in the area to keep friendlies. Never told them they were eating noodled cats until after he retired.

Flathead belly is great. I also think whole-fried redear and bluegill are probably the best tasting fish to me. And I still say crappie and walleye are overrated. Good, but overrated.

Are you claiming that you are capable of successfully going "FLATHEAD FISHING" ?

I'll take that bet.  👍

Announce what day you'd like to go, buy a newspaper that morning, and post a pic here before dark.

I thought we were talking about noodling. Plenty of guys still do noodling around there is what I was referring to. We catch them on the Sac on trot lines occasionally.
