It was never about Ash trees to ME.....it was about biologists launching an all out war on an insect, and receiving government funding for a study......While knowing full well that there's no way in gods green earth that they could possibly WIN THE WAR !    

You apparently took offense because you once sold an Ash log for more than a biologists paycheck, and now you're sore about it because you'd rather sell it to a logging firm than to a camper for firewood. 🥴

The whole thing started with firewood.  Ash trees were quarantined as no sell to transport anywhere.  Boards or firewood here I believe.  I did cut some up for my fireplace from one that fell in the field.

Absolutely.  There is no way that I would cut, split, and haul firewood to try to sell it to campers.

When I sell logs, I hire a logger who has the proper equipment to go into extremely hard to reach areas, cut the trees and bring the logs to collection points.  Then I contact the buyer who comes, inspects and pays on the spot.  All I have to do is collect the check and go to the bank, and head to the lake, not stand by the road hawking bundles of wood.

 I also have some wood chucks who will cut up the tops, split them and stack them in the barn on shares.

Thankfully I was given a heads up from one of those guys about whom wrench rants.  He said if I had any plans to get another ash harvest I better get it done before the borers got here.  Which I did.  Sadly it looks like it was the last one.

No outboard, 4-stroke or otherwise, is going to last 20 years in saltwater !    

you must not have ever experienced saltwater.  I have seen plenty of 20 yr old motors that have exclusively been used in saltwater and are still running around

Offshore boats are running 4-strokes because that's all that is available now......and they have to be replaced every 4-7 years.  So what are you even talking about here? 

offshore boats were running 4 strokes before 2 strokes faded out because of fuel economy and reliability, not sure how you could even argue this logically to be honest.

Longevity? 🤔  My yard is completely full of outboards produced in the 70's, 80's, and 90's  and all they need is regular service and maintenance.   What's the oldest 4-stroke outboard that YOU are aware of ?

honda has been building 4 stroke outboards for over 30 years and I see them for sale in running condition.  (according to google they started in 1964).  

Fuel efficiency?    Fuel bought today needs to be burnt up pretty soon..... because its shelf life isn't very long.  How far do you run?   

depending on where I fish anywhere from 2-8 miles one way.  If I am at the coast sometimes as much as double.  Fuel economy is not the most important factor it is a larger factor running a jet.

I’d love to try it.   I see them now and again on the river.   I thought they could move the console on mine forward a foot or so.

Harder to plane with smaller motors and only a driver.  But great visibility and always by trolling motor.

I would like to try one too.  I have always thought a stick steer trout boat would be perfect.
