The ned was working last time out and so was a wake bait.  2.8 and 3.3 swim baits ought to also work.

I have no advice for fishing when the lightning is crackling as I tend to skedaddle in those situations.

Rain yes.   Lightning?   Hell no!

As others have said:  you should be able to catch them a lot of different ways next week.  I keep a top water and 2.8 or 3.3 swimbait tied on year round and those should be great.  I don't love the Ned, but it catches fish all year long, can't go wrong there either.

I have had great luck fishing just after the rain and I think its always better when cloudy and/or a little windy.  BUT: don't freaking mess with lightening!

I wanted to get on here and thank everyone for the suggestions. The Ned rig got the job done on points an about 20' of water and we caught many 18" fish! :)

If the Colin guy told you he's a pro, he's full of goose hockey. Just another wannabe. No shortage of those around. But glad he helped you out, even if he is just another bass club jersey jock.
And it wouldn't surprise me if that club cleaned and ate those fish they are holding in the pic. Wife and I watched a club from somewhere in MO a few years back cleaning one good SM after another at the cleaning station at Schooner Creek Resort a few years back. All told, they probably sawed the sides off 50 bass that day.
