Devan S.
I have pseudo set a goal of trout in every state. I say pseudo because I have not done research to confirm trout are available is every state. Here I will keep track of states and locations. Overall my goal is the get a native/self supporting as possible although that may not be possible. In cases where Trout is not possible, I will likely defer to state specific native species. Johnsfolly
@Devan S. good luck on this goal. I currently have kept track of the states where I have caught trout. I haven't tried to go as native as possible like you intend to do. So some of mine are currently stockers. I am up to 11 states with catches of salmonid trout. When I looked a few years ago thinking about a similar goal, there wasn't one spot in FL that had freshwater trout, but the link TJM provided indicates a stocked pond. That is when I decided to try for and have tracked three more states where I have caught sea "trout" aka weakfish and speckled seatrout. I know that I have caught streambred/wild rainbows in Missouri - (all blue ribbon streams), brook trout in Maryland and Wyoming, Dolly varden in Alaska, and brown trout in PA. BilletHead
They say the cockroach will be the only survivor when crap hits the fan someday. Sounds like the rainbow trout will be right along side that roach 😀🪳. Devan S.
I think for the southern gulf coast states...I may have to make a December road trip and just try to get LA, MS, AL, FL all in one swoop. Johnsfolly
tjm
The cockroach is natural, where the rainbow trout is said to be entirely synthetic. I am surprised that so many states have stocked them though, I would have guessed 35-40 states at most.

I think I’d still eat a cockroach over a trout😂 Quillback and BilletHead

But thankfully I’m not 😁
