BilletHead Posted September 21 Posted September 21 It was a great float and time. I'm full too and we stopped at Casey's on the way home and Pat and I split a pint of ice cream. Since I was driving she had to feed me. 😁. Only four of us fishing and floating. I only landed a green sunfish, one small mouth and four Ozark bass. Missed other fish. Lots of casting practice. I can say I think I got first place for the flyfishing category. That is because I was the only person flyfishing. Pretty section of the James River. Not busy either for a weekend. Two others kayak fishing was all we seen. dan hufferd, Johnsfolly, ness and 7 others 10 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" ColdWaterFshr Posted September 21 Posted September 21 Made it home just a few minutes ago. Really enjoyed this trip with you guys. Thanks for organizing, Dan. And thanks for bringing all the food, Ness and Rick! If the flies weren’t swarming and it weren’t so danged hot, I would’ve liked to had spent more time chatting with all of you. I like that stretch of water. Very clear water, pretty bluffs and spotted many nice sized fish. Ended up with a dozen or so smallies, most in the 14-15” range and a couple largemouth, including a big one that had to be 18” or more that threw my bait as he tail walked. Fun trip! Quillback Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Didn't you say that bass that tossed your lure looked to be at least 8 lbs.? ColdWaterFshr, Daryk Campbell Sr, Bass Yakker and 4 others 1 6
dan hufferd Posted September 22 Author Posted September 22 What a day and a great bunch of people. There were a few of us who where willing to get in a strange van with people from the Internet, but it all worked out. How about the food ! Oh my goodness you all made this gathering way better than I could have imagined ! Here are a few pictures sure wish I could have got a better picture of BilletHead fly fishing, it was so neat, I might have to try that sometime. ness Posted September 22 Posted September 22 This was a very enjoyable get-together! It was great to meet Phil, Quill, Terrier, Dan/Sandy and Bass Yakker. Also great to see Andrew, Marty and Pat again. Good backstrap medallions, summer sausage sandwiches, jalapeño potato salad and burgers. You know the food is good when every fly in the county shows up😀 Fishing wise: you all know I typically target only the big fish. But for this trip I thought I’d try this micro fishing everyone’s talking about. Of course I was wildly successful. 🤪 FishnDave, dan hufferd, nomolites and 6 others 7 1 1 John
