@Mitch f looks like a Mississippi kite to me but would like to hear Al's thoughts.

I'm thinking the same John. I get my reference material out this afternoon.

A crow was following him around and wherever he landed the crow was only 10 feet away, just watching him

An owl or a hawk decoy can be some of the quick action crow shooting. Fun times. No, I don't eat crow that has feathers. I have been wrong about things and ate crow that way though.

Alright gentlemen…Help me with this one. Turned the corner at the end of my street and this fellow was just sitting there. I stopped, thinking, ‘Cool, a Cooper’s Hawk! I never have seen one up close.’ Why he stayed there looking at me, I don’t know. I rolled down the window and took a pic. As I got to looking at it I thought the color was wrong. Cooper’s should be more of a buff color. Anyhoo, he sat there longer than I thought he should, then he flew up into a nearby tree. I never saw anything he may have been eating, so I’m kinda puzzled.

Wish we could see the tail better, but the legs look heavy for a Cooper's hawk.  Immature Cooper's look something like that, though.  But I'm tentatively calling this one an immature red-shouldered hawk.

That’s a good point about the legs.  Thanks.

Could very well be.  I always tend to not think of broad-wings because they are woodland hawks that aren't all that common and I almost never see one.  A good idea of the size of the bird would help.
