Fun times. No, I don't eat crow that has feathers. I have been wrong about things and ate crow that way though. ness Posted July 24 Posted July 24 Alright gentlemen…Help me with this one. Turned the corner at the end of my street and this fellow was just sitting there. I stopped, thinking, ‘Cool, a Cooper’s Hawk! I never have seen one up close.’ Why he stayed there looking at me, I don’t know. I rolled down the window and took a pic. As I got to looking at it I thought the color was wrong. Cooper’s should be more of a buff color. Anyhoo, he sat there longer than I thought he should, then he flew up into a nearby tree. I never saw anything he may have been eating, so I’m kinda puzzled. John

But I'm tentatively calling this one an immature red-shouldered hawk. ness 1

I always tend to not think of broad-wings because they are woodland hawks that aren't all that common and I almost never see one. A good idea of the size of the bird would help. tjm 1
