Turn 61 next month.   How much OLDER did you think I was?

I feel like I've worked my @$$ off all my life...... but just found out that I'll only get to draw 900.00 a month if I retire next year 😥   Whatever 🤷‍♂️ I'm going to anyway.

People b*tch about paying into SS until it's time to start drawing. Then they b*tch about how much how much they draw. Personally it's the best money I even spent, my money ran out years ago, but I still get that check.

I'm going to anyway.

Good for you;  I retired on my #62 birthday and DO NOT regret it.  Many people just wait too long.  Too many identify their lives with a career only and refuse to retire.

I'm unclear on how much "work" I'll still be allowed to do while still drawing SS, but when I do the math, and consider the potential inflation, I can't imagine it would be worthwhile to wait.   Holding off for another 5 years only increases the monthly amount by 400.00 ......which wouldn't even cover my phone bill 😅

I don't think there is any limitation on how much you can work, just some restriction on how much you can earn with out impacting your SS payments. Earnings over a set amount cases a temporary reduction in payment, for 2024 that annual limit is $22,320. And the reduction is  $1 from your benefit payments for every $2 you earn above the annual limit.

Hope you have a plan for medical coverage till you're eligible for Medicare.
