oneshot 1 Posted July 26 Posted July 26 I was just checking you out only to find you are 10 years younger than me. Dang I hope you lied about your age. I don't know if I can handle this. oneshot
fishinwrench Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Turn 61 next month. How much OLDER did you think I was? I feel like I've worked my @$$ off all my life...... but just found out that I'll only get to draw 900.00 a month if I retire next year 😥 Whatever 🤷♂️ I'm going to anyway. FishnDave and BilletHead 2

dblades Posted July 26 Posted July 26 People b*tch about paying into SS until it's time to start drawing. Then they b*tch about how much how much they draw. Personally it's the best money I even spent, my money ran out years ago, but I still get that check. BilletHead 1
Members T.J. Clarke Posted July 26 Members Posted July 26 I'm going to anyway. Good for you; I retired on my #62 birthday and DO NOT regret it. Many people just wait too long. Too many identify their lives with a career only and refuse to retire. Flysmallie, nomolites, BilletHead and 2 others 3 2
oneshot 1 Posted July 26 Author Posted July 26 Dad could have retired at 55 but he didn't. Passed at 59. oneshot
fishinwrench Posted July 27 Posted July 27 I'm unclear on how much "work" I'll still be allowed to do while still drawing SS, but when I do the math, and consider the potential inflation, I can't imagine it would be worthwhile to wait. Holding off for another 5 years only increases the monthly amount by 400.00 ......which wouldn't even cover my phone bill 😅
tjm Posted July 27 Posted July 27 I don't think there is any limitation on how much you can work, just some restriction on how much you can earn with out impacting your SS payments. Earnings over a set amount cases a temporary reduction in payment, for 2024 that annual limit is $22,320. And the reduction is $1 from your benefit payments for every $2 you earn above the annual limit.

Hope you have a plan for medical coverage till you're eligible for Medicare. BilletHead and snagged in outlet 3 1 1
