Daryk Campbell Sr Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Anyone have any personal experience with these? I'm weighing a few options. Lots of variables, and too much money to experiment with. Ultimately I want something that's able to be motorized but can go really shallow. It will be only me, and I want to be able to move it semi easily. I'm really liking the NuCanoe Ultimate but trying to consider a different propulsion than a trolling motor. You’ve probably looked, but YouTube has a bunch of content on those and others. Let us know what you do. And you know that @Johnsfolly guy will want pictures😂 dan hufferd, Daryk Campbell Sr and Johnsfolly 1 2

I want to buy a jet of some sort, or at least I think I do. I want mine to be light, so when I get it hung up I can get it loose by myself, overpowered or power to spare, and as bare bones and cost effective as possible. While those jet jons are super cool, I wonder how the pump maintenance is, I don't think they are made for sucking rocks, also the weight, are they heavy? They look like it. However I think the weight distribution would be great. If I do get a jet something I am leaning toward a tunnel hull, and outboard. I know this famous boat mechanic that says 30hp or better is what you want😁. So now I contrast that with a kayak trip (I going to be in the same water with this thing), Kayak or canoe are quiet, low budget no trailer required, although I have one, no numbers, no taxes. I don't don't know, is blowing up longer stretches of the river worth to me? That's what it really comes down to for me. One more thing, if you really follow some of these jet Jon builds almost all of them have trouble, mainly leaks, they most try to use the belly of the jet ski and motor mounts in the jonboat. I also thought why not just put some armour plating ( aluminum, plastic) on the jet ski and skip the whole boat build, they already have fishing jet ski's. Now someone make that and not give me any money 😁 I still don't know. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

The owner of Blazer Jet Boats said a tunnel is not necessary and in fact doesn’t work as well as a flat bottom hull with on outboard jet. Mine runs crazy shallow and it doesn’t have a tunnel. 3” to 4” easy. dan hufferd and Daryk Campbell Sr 1 1

Anything smaller is susceptible to sucking up small pebbles, jamming up the jet pump, and causing you to have to paddle back to the trailer. 35+HP has enough torque at idle to go ahead and chew those tiny little pebbles up and spit them right out. 👍 snagged in outlet 3, nomolites and dan hufferd 2 1

While we’re back drifting into a shallow shoal. Because with his fat @$$ in the boat I need an additional foot of water to get going. 😆 Daryk Campbell Sr, dan hufferd and Gavin 1 2
