oneshot 1 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 They need Hot Coffee and Water pretty regular . They are miles from any Restaurant after awhile they need food and it is not feasible to have them go somewhere else to eat. I have been to fires and did nothing but haul Firefighters to an other area. We usually set up Command Center there anyway and bring food and water out. This is one place they could use a Drone. Instead we got use of a Helicopter but I like Infrared for Search and Rescue especially at night. I brought up us getting a Drone. I got one but the whole SE part of the state can use it. oneshot Daryk Campbell Sr 1
oneshot 1 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 We are DHS. Where we are needed we set up a trailer with Radios and such. If we are deployed we make $50 an hour. But we can only be deployed so long then we have a relief come in. I told my Boss he needed to find someone besides me. Oh let the young guys do it you supervise because you know what to do. oneshot

tjm Posted August 31 Posted August 31 So the firefighters must be a threat to our government that y'all need to watch and the hospital also?
fishinwrench Posted August 31 Posted August 31 It blows my mind that in 2024 the protocol for such things STILL hasn't been figured out to anyone's satisfaction. It surprises me that anything, including delivering the mail, can actually get done. 🙄

They need to start paying a competitive wage if they ever want to staff offices in bigger cities. Pay is the same across the country (aside from Hawaii and Alaska I believe.) $19 something for city carriers and $20.38 for rurals. No set schedule or guarantee of hours, may be 8 or 60 hours a week. Not really a surprise that turnover is so high. -Austin
Terrierman Posted September 1 Posted September 1 The technology just keeps changing. People have to adapt, and we do. Thirty years ago smart phones were not a thing. Drones? High speed computing? Scanners that can read cursive writing....Just think about the technology that goes into the spell checkers we all hate. That's why protocols change. bfishn 1
oneshot 1 Posted September 1 Author Posted September 1 We was created after 9/11 with not much to deal with and I don't think many knew what to do. My wife is Office Manager and PIO. Get this they gave her a raise but cut her hours. Me I'm Volunteer because my wife works for wages. I'm a Chief but anymore can't do my Job because of health but Boss likes me so I'm still there. Funny I'm to keep Vehicles going, Haul Stuff, and make sure things are done safely. First one I wrote up was Deputy Director for unloading a Truck by himself. Supposed to be two people. I can't do this anymore I can't drive, I lay down I can't get back up, I can't hear and I use to carry my Pistol on my left side and I could fix it where I could carry on my right side but best I don't do Security. My wife got jumped for not having her Pistol at the Conference. I mentioned to my wife about using Taxpayer money for the Conference. She says it is paid for with a Grant but she said really Taxpayers pay for everything. oneshot
