Everglades were mentioned.  That is where I plan to go on a solo trip in a year or two.   Just gonna drive in carrying my canoe.   So many options,  but any cichlids are gonna be desirable as well as a male Peacock bass.  Then I plan to go to the saltwater and bank fish.    This will be about a week trip.

You should definitely fish the canals along I75. Multiple boat launches. Canals are absolutely loaded with Oscars

You guys have a lot of good ideas. I like them.

I'm leaning towards everglades and potentially rent a canoe.....if I can find something there. Haven't done research yet. In 2025, I'll probably go back to pyramid but XNA to Miami can be pretty cheap.

Deal is this is likely a 3-5 day trip later in the year. That means getting in/out has to be reasonably easy. I'm likely to burn a day travelling going/coming. Depending on location, rent a small SUV and sleep in car. Cheap cheap fun fun.

Shore bound or value guides are a ++.

Sounds like we may need a 2026 OA Havasu-fest?

I plum forgot about Louisiana.

Accessing the Everglades at Everglades city is definitely is doable from a Kayak or Canoe, but it is a maze of canals and bays, so bring a GPS if  you venture a long ways from the boat ramp thee.  Also, Hopedale LA about 40 - 60  minutes from New Orleans is DIYable, thinking about doing it myself.

I’ll be going back to Louisiana for larger Alligator Gar, more Redfish, and Bull Sharks.

I would love to go to East Tennessee for trophy Smallmouth, but I wouldn't know where to start. It would feel like learning everything about the Ozarks over again x2.

Something about Smallmouth though - Sure, I would love to target them up north, but something about that species with an Appalachian/Ozark type setting is what really excites me. It just makes sense.

I used to sleep in my Yukon on trips to Taney and The White all the time.   Air mattress and a coffee maker.  I really enjoyed it.

Believe it or not, I would take the hand me down Evinrude 18 hp motor out of the back of my VW and sleep in it. I took sandwiches and sodas and fished an entire weekend out of a cheap rented boat. I really enjoyed it. My young wife, not so much.
