I was aware that Norfork came up significantly and quickly. I knew that it had not crested yet. I thought I had a spot where I could find White Bass. I was right and wrong.
The lake was up and ugly. Muddy and full of debris. I had to stop repeatedly to clear the jet. I had to stop and clear the indicator hole as I got an overheat warning. 1618D944-74E4-4DCC-AAE5-B8378300687C.jpegB7342AEC-3FEA-4CB0-977E-A7A74F4E78C7.jpegMy first spot held no clear water at the back like I hoped. I found my clear water.

Just a little early. No White Bass.BFF615C6-C386-4DAA-8AA5-2DA6D069E999.jpegFirst fish was a Fat Little Smallie.
no more in the main creek, so I searched a side Creek looking for Logperch. I never saw one. I saw Ozark Darters. I saw various micros. Wind was getting Stoopid.

I started trying more spots for Whites. C3D3B853-E871-44EB-9811-516E3B0328FB.jpegWaldo will get shallow.

I noticed Carp spawning, but not all of them were spawning. Some mixed in were cruising and eating a little. I tried sticking my boat and casting, but they didn’t like me looming above them.
I started to give up, but decided to park the boat and wade using my knee boots.
It didn’t take long. I started making short roll casts right in front of the feeders. It literally took like 5 minutes. One vacuumed up my fly. He was in like 12 inches of water. Really limited what he could do. I didn’t rush. I just enjoyed it. B20AB989-AB89-4C08-AFCF-34DC3F172248.jpeg5BE32D8C-D5F8-4F3A-BA31-3EDD8FE3BA97.jpegmy first carp of the year. I sure hope it isn’t the last.

Justin Spencer cleaned some and never found trout in them. I don’t make my living pursuing trout, I’d stick Tiger Musky in the White River if I could,

shoot, there arent enough trout in there to sustain stripers for more than a day or two.  that river has more crawfish in it than any river I have ever seen though
