kjackson Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Thanks in advance. I'm getting closer to buying a boat that will fit my needs, desire and particular requirements. There are a ton of boats that will do what I want--Lund, Alumacraft, Crestliner, Lowe. I'm fairly familiar with each brand from the days when I worked for Bass & Walleye Boats magazine. But lately I've seen a fair number of newer Trackers that might do. Specifically, I'm looking at the Super Guide V-16 SC. Does anyone have experience with this model? I would like to get feedback as I've only seen one on a shop floor and would like to get an idea about reliability and pros and cons. I've seen problems with other Tracker and Fisher hulls, but that was waaaay back in the day, and things hopefully have changed at Tracker. Again, TIA. top_dollar and snagged in outlet 3 2
fishinwrench Posted May 23 Posted May 23 The only issue I can recall on those specific boats isn't related to the hull or transom.....but the flooring and hatch lids. Not a deal breaker 👍

You know you should have bought that Alumacraft when I had it for sale. BilletHead and kjackson 2

Go north, look at alumiweld, kingfisher, and the like. If I can swing it I really like kingfisher, G3 has an all weld with aluminum consoles too.

This is just the type of boat I want in the next few years, maybe a bit bigger. I keep wanting an upgrade, but my current boat seems to be pretty bulletproof and easy to work on. I am scared to get something more complicated. I can certainly speak for the longevity and durability of Crestliners. I have a 02 Crestliner Canadian with an Evinrude. No wood, No carpet, just jagged metal edges. Because of that, everything is super accessible and easy to work on. I generally try to just replace rubber/plastic components every few years, and keep fresh gas/batteries for it. kjackson and BilletHead 2

There was a Canadian for sale at a really good price that was nearby, and it sold before I could see it. Sigh. But you're right in that a bare-bones boat has a lot to recommend it. I told one dealer that my requirements were a vee hull, flat floor and a livewell. I would be happy with a tiller, but my wife wants me to buy a side console because, "They're safer."
