Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted Tuesday at 01:03 PM Root Admin Posted Tuesday at 01:03 PM Was informed yesterday that all 4 turbines are down for maintenance now. So any flow will come from the spill gates. My understanding they are running water 3-4 hours a day for "fish water" late in the afternoons so they will run 1,000 cfs. They should have started yesterday but haven't talked to anyone that witnessed what they actually ran. I'm wondering if that's 2-3 gates or just one. 1,000 cfs is one gate opened 12 inches. This could be for several months, may be all winter. It seems they're having a lot of issues with these old turbines and I did hear parts are tough to get. dpitt, BilletHead, Daryk Campbell Sr and 1 other 4
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted Tuesday at 03:53 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:53 PM What does that mean for electricity? Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. A friend of mine works in bull shoals dam as an electrical engineer. The generators are one off built, and every part has to be made. bull shoals has a machine shop. When the generators needed rebuilt, they have to be hand wound. dpitt, BilletHead, Quillback and 3 others 6 everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

I think that's pretty well true for most hydro plants. They all have different water levels above and below their respective dams and differing flow levels for generation. I know Bagnell is that way for certain. gotmuddy and dpitt 2
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted Wednesday at 02:54 PM Author Root Admin Posted Wednesday at 02:54 PM I guess the fix was quick... no more spilling. Brian Shaffer sent me a message saying they are a lot of gar below the dam now. I wonder if anyone has tried a nylon fly for them yet. That might be fun! dpitt and ness 2
