Well I fished ollie fest today and get the stream cred. I was the o n ly human down there lol. Caught a lot of fish. 10 rainbows of varying size and a dozen browns all the smallest little things you've ever seen. Wooly bugger in tan and olive got it done today with a barely legal getting the best fish a 12 in rainbow. Did see two enormous browns one about 22 and one that weighed probably 5 pounds didn't catch either.  Man I finally get streamcred and no noses to rub it in lol 😂 20251130_125832.thumb.jpg.f13fa22fe9cdeb35482a84374a854b54.jpgmo

Congrats on a nice fishing and catching day! Surprise that you were the only. You did keep alive the tradition of fishing Capps crk the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Please keep this going, and post a reminder next year.   Ive been wanting to participate for many years and it just doesn't work wirh family.   ....of course this year I probably could have squeezed it in.  Congrats on the cred.

I just didn't have it in me this year to do it. Shoot, every year I post about it only 3 people ever consistently show up. I just kind of gave up on it this year. That and I was dead tired from working all week last week. I thought about it, but the body was just saying no. Congrats on the fish you caught trythisonemv. I did go down there the week before and scouted it out. Lots of shallow holes now from the recent floods. That, and I lot of trees down on the lower end. Kudos to you this year.

Every year I hear about this I think, 'Maybe next year.' :D It would be nice to meet some more of the members here, and I'd also like to explore that area more. I've only fished just below the mill and down as far as I felt I could without getting myself in trouble. Our family did many reunions down at Roaring River, and we typically stopped at Jolly for a bit on the way.

you can go all the way to Shoal Creek, must be about two miles or a bit more, but the stockings are mostly off the two bridges and the locals get on them before the truck is out of sight. It was better fishing, imo, about 25-30 years ago when the farms were still active, but that could be simply that I fished  it often enough back then to be familiar with it. It seems to me that when they built the new bridge near the mill that they changed the water flow at that point and caused a lot of erosion in subsequent floods, holes filled in banks got higher and the long weedy runs diminished. Those weeds were hard to fish but they gave the fish a lot of protection and held countless crawdads for them to eat.

The main culprit with the floods and gravel was the collapse of the old bridge IMO. That and they built up the wall to the Mill pond by the Mill itself. That changed a lot I know from just talking with Haskins. Don't forget more homes have been built by the Mill as well in the last several years.

I believe the stream through Haskins' field changed after the new bridge was built but long before the old bridge fell down, but that being in the water didn't help anything. I also recall that years ago there was a lot more water in the stream above the mill pond than I've seen in recent years and that must have an effect.

On the baby trout,  has there been any evidence of spawning below the dam? or anywhere that you've noticed?

I have seen reds and caught three inch rainbows down there multiple times. Probably would be better recruitment if they  put stricter regulations
