tjm Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Need a foot snare anchored to a bucket sized tree. Or a culvert trap. I'd contact MDC, because I think it'll be back until you run out of bees. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

I'd contact MDC, because I think it'll be back until you run out of bees. Did contact MDC first thing, said to harass it. I mentioned the 300-400 dollars worth of damage to my property, noting it was a nuisance bear that is used to humans, feeds on bird feeders, and knows how to knock over a beehive from behind. You do have the right to protect livestock, property, and life with any means. I removed all hives off property, moved all feed sources from outside buildings. He came back Sunday night at 8:50 pm, checked feeder, smelled trap, and left out about 5 minutes later down my road triggering my property entrance camera. It knows where to spend its time. Came in from an upper field Sat nite around 8:50, crossed my cattle guard in front of house, circled house to the right. Stopped in front of carport by branch and dug up a few grubs. A possum circled the tree in front yard and triggered motion light. It approached the area of the photo using the tree on the left as cover, looked around it on both sides, then entered the front yard and started on feeder. Sat its fat butt down and started pouring it into his mouth, a mixture of chop corn, milo, and sunflower seed. Kept that up until 10 pm when I got up, shut off inside light and turned tv off. At this point, he retreated and froze behind the tree the feeder was attached to. Then, he walked over to the hive in front yard and knocked it off from behind, separating the boxes. He grabbed the top box full of bees and honey in its jaws and carried down about 75 feet to a secluded spot in the branch and had its way with it. It tried to dig out an armadillo sometime near the bee eating spot, then took a big crap on the way out. I have good photos of all and great video. If I figure out how to attach the video, its pretty amazing. This one is well feed from foraging homes for dog food, bird feeders, bee hive, and other livestock feed. It probably may take garbage too. It is not shy of motion lights popping all around. It was 10' from my front door the whole time, even got lazy enough to lay down on its side and lick the ground for seed. It is a problem bear, unlike other wild, shy bears. But the morning hours of Easter Sunday was spent clearing out all of my outbuildings with a high capacity shotgun to make me feel a little more secure that it was not holed up there. Not many natural places for one that size to spend a day in the area, caves or big hollow trees. Flysmallie Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Man if I could have any animal as a pet it would definitely be a bear. But that one is a little too close and too comfortable for me. Contrary to popular belief, they don’t like hugs. Daryk Campbell Sr, BilletHead and grizwilson 3
