Painting jerkbaits for big trout

Finally got to fish the rainbow pattern this morning on the Upper Lake with the water off. First fish was a 20 inch brown.  We caught a few bows, another 17 inch brown and a couple walleye, along with a good sized channel cat and a few of them stinking brown bass on it.  Could not be more pleased with the results!

1st attempt at a juvenile rainbow.  I like the way the parr marks came out.  Gill plates are a little harsh.  I got a little carried away with the dots and did not heat set them, so they smeared just a tad when applying epoxy coat.  Did not cover bill because it was a sacrificial blank I had been cutting stencils out on.

Looks great to me especially the parr marks! I'd eat that :D!

Nice job man!  Those are looking great!  I dig the more greenish color too.  The Rappala rainbow patterns always look a bit too blue to me.  Yours are looking more like the few baby rainbows that I have seen down there.

I'm telling you. Sign it and date it. Look back on it in a few months and see how far you have went. Nice job buddy,

This is the first and only one. Used sharpie for dots and signature.  Only a few of the dots and signature smeared when brushing on epoxy. That is the first time I’ve had that issue.  Did not heat set them.

Haven't read all the details in these posts, but I sure like stippling with craft paint for dots.

I do also Ness but I have the time and Duane is so busy I am betting he doesn't. All the patterns on these two and many others I have done are free hand. Different sized needles blunted off. Started off with stippling and then drag wet paint into desired pattern.  My biggest problem is I cannot use a stencil. I am no C&C machine and cannot replicate exact sizes. Carry on Duane, sorry we hijacked your artwork. I am liking this,
