  1. "Your papers please"
  2. Looks like a nice boat.
  3. Those are some nice fish. 15" is the best I can do. Maybe I need a bigger bait?
  4. There is no doubt fishermen are better qualified to advise on mental health issues than the so called professionals after all it's not us that's crazy it's the world around us. Rest assured your passion for fishing is as good a coping mechanism as you'll ever find.
  5. Good lord yes, that's a honker. Private water?
  6. A fellow river man. My brother and I finally wore the bottom of our river boat (the Greasy Bastard) paper thin. Bro spent the spring rebuilding and now the Bastard has a new lease on life and a slick paint job. I'm looking forward to leaving blue marks on boulders all across the Ozarks.
  7. 2 lbs bass ain't got nothing on Bluegill like that.
  8. When I was a kid my go to Catfish bait was a Limburger Cheese/Hamburger mix.
  9. He's a handsome devil.
  10. It's nice hear some fishing reports, thanks, On the few trips I've taken so far I have found the rivers wonderfully quite. Its zoo season now so it's time to get creative, let's hope the headwaters stay passable for a few more weeks.
  11. I believe I catch Warm Mouth out of the strip pits north of SIUC. I have never seen one larger than 6", most are 4.
  12. I don't think so. One if the great pleasures of fly fishing is feeling the line shoot through the guides on the forward cast. For Gills nothing beats a 9' 3wt. The moon phase isn't prime right now but in a couple of weeks........ I'll be calling you.
  13. Oh yeah, I'm loading the truck this morning for three glorious days of Bluegill fishing in southern Illinois.
  14. Yeah, isn't that something. It makes you wonder who's next?
  15. When I see videos like that I ask myself; do I act that silly when I catch a fish? Gosh, I hope not.
  16. You're darn right that sucks. If you have not already done so It's not too late to notify MDC. Thanks for popping our collective bubble of self importance and reminding us that our streams are being raped by selfish morons.
  17. I consider Reelfoot one of the best fishing destinations in the country. The lake has all the qualities of you would want: it's huge, intimidating, beautiful, incredibly productive and at times scary. Though bait fishing is something I have given up years ago when at Reelfoot I'm happy to tote a cricket tube around to have a chance at some of the biggest bream I have ever seen. Hang around the cleaning area at any of the local resorts and you'll be astounded at the quantity and size of the fish the lake produces. I rate Samburg TN as one of the greatest American fishing towns.
  18. Micropterus coosae http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redeye_bass I have always wanted to fish the Flint River in Georgia for Shoal Bass, A side trip to the Coosa River for Redeye would be cool.
  19. A good long sleeve shirt keeps me much cooler than bare skin. On really hot days I dip it the the water then wear it to get evaporating cooling, at times it so cool I can hardly put it back on. Now that my physique more and more resembles that of a Buda I'm prone to keep my shirt on anyway.
  20. I have been afraid to add the weight of a smooth floor in my Shawnee. The ridges aren't that bad, i just deal with it. One of the reasons I chose a Shawnee was because of the reputation for indestructabilty. After 14 years of smacking rocks and sliding over be barely wet riffles the boat has finally need some TLC, that's not bad.
  21. No you were not out of line, you were there first and that's all there is to it. If you want to justify it further the dude in the bass boat was much more mobile than you he should have moved out of your area just for that reason. You just ran across a rude inconsiderate idiot. Nice fish.
  22. PM sent. Let me know if you have a problem printing the map.
  23. Some fine fish, keep the reports coming.
  24. Yeah, the whole weekend was tough. Has anyone seen beds yet?
