I don’t know, but I’d sure like to see Uncle Josh’s make a return. I’m almost out and only try to bring out the ones I have left on special occasions (for the most part).

I just bought a new net. I looked at a bunch of nets before buying. I ended up getting one from lews in Springfield. They had one with a decently long handle and big opening with a deep coated net. It had the best price point I could find for a net matching all of those requirements. I fished Sunday in our club championship. It was extremely tough for everyone. The winning sack had only 3 fish for about 10.23. Only one limit brought in that didn’t even make 9 pounds. I caught mine mine on an a-rig. Shaky head won it. Heard a buzz bait caught some fish too.

Oh man I want that so bad and this isn’t helping. There is no way I’m gonna drop that kind of cash on a transducer though. Oh but I do so want it. I’ve fished with a guy that uses panoptics and it is saweeet! Between that an an Ultrex, I’m like a kid looking at the sears catalog before Christmas. I want!

Yes. I remember that. It used to show that the majority of “hunting accidents” were things like “guy got caught in barbed wire fence while trying to cross it resulting in a trip to the hospital and some stitches.” Or falling out of deer stands and stuff like that.

I find that size 20-24 get significantly more bites than 16-18 on my dries at Bennett.

I have an Olympus Tough TG-2. I love it. It takes some really fantastic pictures for a point-and-shoot, especially underwater.

And don’t even get me started on the quick draw. The number of times I’ve gone since the quick draw was implemented has heavily decreased. It really messed up all of my “backup” spots. I could go on and on. Not a fan. I do need to get out and have a good duck day sometime soon though.

I’m all about parachute drys. I especially like a “hi-vis” dry when fishing something small (like size 20 or smaller). So much easier to see and I can’t tell that it hurts the bite for me.

I’ve always heard to go for the base of the wing, or if possible on a strutting bird, right up the behind. I’ve not managed to connect with one with my bow yet, but it is definitely on my list.

The bass fishing has been pretty tough, but I’d sure be happy with some walleye!

A drake whistle and good decoy spread will get it done a lot of time in the duck parks with tons of pressure. Getting started, I liked the buck garner calls. When I started, I got a buck Garner call that came with a cd and a drake whistle to learn from. I upgraded from there, but don’t think it was absolutely necessary to do so. A lot of guys say the double reeds reeds are easier to learn. I don’t really see much difference between learning on a single reed or on a double reed, personally. Perhaps the double reed calls give a bit more resistance and back pressure?

I’ve always heard good things about fountain grove (mostly from the old timers I used to hunt with), but I’ve never been there myself. I’m gonna have to make my way up there one of these days and check it out.

Not drawn. Again. I really wish they would implement a priority points system where your odds increase every year you don’t get drawn. I really wish they would get rid of the quick draw, but that isn’t gonna happen. Since it isn’t going away, I really wish they would do priority points on there too. I put in all the time for quick draw (every week last year, for example) and never get drawn. I think I’ve been drawn 3 or 4 times since it has been enacted. Most of those times were after the hard freeze had set in and all of those times were late December. I’ve gotten one good hunt from quick draw since it started. I really don’t like it at all.
