  1. I remember living by an urban trout lake in college (long time gone). I ate allot of them since the GI bill just paid the rent.

You should try some Spam Masube's! The vinegar in the sushi rice makes it a great go snack. I'd prefer tuna but my pocket book disagrees! Bing Videos

You are not starving that is for sure! Good looking eats! I was gonna make some masubes(Hawaiian Spam Sushi) today and discovered that The Japanese like gizzard shad nigiri (fish on top of rice type sushi). There may be an untapped market for sushi grade gizzard shad!

    What's Cooking?

We had a couple hits this week. I made Chicken Tamale Pie (Google it), and my wife tried her hand at homemade butter. Butter was stinking easy on her Kitchen Aid Blender. So good!
  5. We are getting close. We are brushed, water is on, and decoys are cleaned and ready to pitch! Break a leg!
  6. Well it will look like a golf course when they are done.
  7. MDC kinda sucks at managing regular maintenance and construction projects. Columbia Bottom Conservation area has been all but abandoned, and the Shell Osage "Remodel" is years overdue with no end in sight. All the stuff they bought 50 years ago is falling apart.
  8. You are correct, I have a few ribald stories about Bad Breathbreath Anny Gumball, Rosie Roundheels, Suzie Rottencrotch, and Eileen the BJ Queen. Don’t kiss and tell!
  9. I have no idea, but I'm sure it involved a Grandpa Pigeon's purchased Zebco 202 and Sunnen Lake in Potosi, MO. I still wish that I had that combo, but I broke the rod beating a cottonmouth to death with it 45-50ish years ago. The spillway below the dam was one of our favorite spots, but very snakey.
  10. You need more cannabis in there, but it stinks. Uncle Slayton likes the cash, and does not mind the smell.

    Food Trucks

Side note, a buddy got some great food press today. Check him out if your in STL. https://www.stltoday.com/life-entertainment/local/food-drink/restaurants/article_c077b3cf-cc51-4fc9-b2ab-081b9f000310.html#tracking-source=home-top-story

    Food Trucks

Heck, I'll order a half portion when available. Leftover's suck.

    Food Trucks

I saw a $35 lobster roll on a menu this weekend. We went someplace else. It is hard to eat out for less than $20 a plate for lunch or $30 for dinner these days. Add a bar tab and apps, and it gets pricey fast.

Cavender's is great stuff. I always have some on hand.
  15. How did you do? What stood out to you?
  16. The Turkey Trot Festival used to be a big deal in Yellville. Turkey dinner at the high school, Miss Turkey legs. Bluegrass bands, cotton candy in one hand and a smoked Turkey leg in the other. Children all war painted up would chase down the live turkeys that fell from a low flying Cessna prop plane. The finder got the Turkey and the gift certs/coupons rubber banded to its leg. True story.
  17. Get them a roadie gig with Emmett Otter and his Jug-band.
  18. It is the same as most others, I can do better closer to home. No big deal, but I did see live turkey’s tossed from low flying aircraft in Yellville, AR 25 years ago. Not sure if that’s a thing anymore,
  19. That's got to be some form of genetic abnormality, similar to the mutant "Golden" rainbows. Put it in some Andy's and a pot of grease!
  20. The Greer guage is the one you need to watch. We camped at the Greer Confluence one January were there was NO flow coming in from above Greer. The sand bar we camped on is usually under 2-3' of water.
  21. We brushed up this weekend. We had about an acre of sheet water on the front field, but no teal or doves in sight. We elected to sleep in and avoid the 100 degree heat.
  22. Congrats! I hope you like it. Boredom & depression often follow. It is hard to restructure your life.
  23. Schell Osage CS was supposed to reopen years ago and Columbia Bottom CA has been all but abandoned. It might take a few more years for Bennett.
  24. Your pretty much helpless in the salt unless you know tides, and have a boat to get to where the fish will be when the tide moves. You can bridge or pier fish, but that is a snore.
  25. I always laugh when a guide ties a dry & dropper on my rig. Clip, that nymph is going away. I'm paying for a boat ride, not bobber fishing.
