  1. Love it in the 1300-700 range. Fishing is usually good but wading is limited. Pretty easy to wade the Sunburst stretch at most levels but doubt that you would be able to wade up to Blair at 1000

    Great in bloody Mary's too!
  3. Nice fish! Glad you like your new boat. No sense in looking for the perfect one...Better to spend time fishing instead of looking.
  4. Nice kit! I've never had a problem since I started keeping them in a separate box.
  5. They stock a lot of trout down there, but you can catch fair numbers of bass and some nice chain pickerel if you target them. Ham is correct. That section gets quite a bit of weekend jet boat traffic in the summer months...would go during the week, or weekends during the off months.

There are many ways to skin cat! Not a fan of crock pot anything! John that dish looks great! Tostadas were good too, even on a paper plate.
  7. Dunno, I just don't like baits that are meant to wiggle or walk that have a prop on the back.

Never did the injection thing but might help on a crappy cut of brisket. Usually better of to order a good brisket. Carnitas worked out fine. A few more chores than expected today. Tossed them under the broiler to bark up a bit while the liquid reduced. Tastes pretty good! Might be a good way to make crock pot pulled pork flavorful, Lol.

Looking good folks. Usually drive pulled pork to 200-210 range then toss it in a cooler to rest for a couple hours before pulling. The bone falls right out. Have some Carnitas in the oven right now. Plan to pull, reduce the pot juice into a glaze, then brown on the grill later.
  10. White shrooms in your last photo look like Amanitas. Never eat those! Will kill you, and very common.
  11. Just enjoyed a great set by Miss Jubilee and the Humdingers, on to the movie "Little Shop of Horrors". Free show with the family at the City Park.
  12. Never felt sure when I've found boletes. There should be some chanterelles about, sometimes in abundance.
  13. It's available at Montauk Lodge.
  14. think the rat pack (my 2 kids, and 5 next door) has been eating my Tomatoes. Haven't had one yet!
  15. Wow! That's a full load! Will fill my 17' with a load that size but usually packing dinner for 20 and an extra cooler for friends from out of State who fly in.
  16. Can get Big Piney in St Louis sporadically but readily available in the Rolla/St James/FLW area. A trip to the brewery is worthwhile if your on 63 between Licking & Cabool. Not far from Dogs Bluff on the Big Piney. Had a big expansion in progress last summer. Probably done now.
  17. Not sure what the present level is, but that's usually a flat water float with short riffles and long slow holes.Hit the shade lines with a big popper.

    What's Cooking?

All looks and sounds good! Tried a twist on tomatoes & cucumbers last night. Added about a cup of mixed kalamata & green olives, a bit of fresh mint, couple ounces of feta, and dressed with fresh lemon juice and a bit of olive oil. Pretty good will do again.
  20. Glad you are having an excellent adventure!
  21. Good for you guys...You have an annual trip and you always slay. The black is kinda different. Experience translates to fish down thee. w
  22. Good post FW...best bottom fish usually hit on the initial drop, or within a five count. Sometimes the strikezone is anything withing 20'...Sometimes its the size of a frozen pea. The fish will tell you.
  23. If you are fishing from a paddle craft in a river it is hard to fish slow unless you eddy out or hang the bank and cast back up. The fish will tell you how they want it. Best usually hit on top or on the bottom and you can fish slow or fast on top or on the bottom. Observation, presentation, and persistance.
  24. Good people, nice place, and a couple fish usually makes for a great day.
  25. Looks like a great time! Good for you guys!
