  1. Nope, I don’t know that guy but I can tell you where he is standing. He’s about 75 yards from an access.
  2. My friends have been down camping and sore lipping those fish for two days now. Gonna join them in the AM. I’m not bringing my light gear. Thinking a medium spin rod, and a 6wt. Extra reel for each. It sucks when your reel freezes solid.
  3. I’ve got a basement full of short fly rods 8’ 5wt & under. Everything I usually fish with is 9’ 5wt and up. I do like to dink around with a short wimpy rod and a dry fly when that opportunity exists, but not so much on the Current R. The place is a mess right now. Sand & sweepers everywhere. 3x minimum to keep them out of all the snags.
  4. Good for you Marty! We wrapped the North Zone season with 4 this morning. Then we pulled decoys and cleaned out the blind. Best season in a couple years! Now, it's time to trout fish!
  5. Call up T Hargrove Fly Fishing in St. Louis and ask Tom or Chris about repairs and a possible replacements. Then go to St. Louis and cast them. You wont know if you like the rod until you put a line on it.
  6. That old Lambeth Bridge was a scary one to drive over. I wonder if it is still standing? We had Paul Dallas meet us mid float on that one and lower his canoe off the bridge with a rope to avoid the forest of poison ivy under the bridge. Then he walked down a couple hundred yards to hop a farmers gate. H and J were kinda pokie at the takeout, so me, Coldwater, and Paul Dallas drank a good bit of scotch over the course of 2 hours before we decided to borrow H's Hoopty arse truck to get the heck out of there. Shuttled J's down and told H & J were to find H's.. Dallas split, and me and Coldwater went back over to Gasconade Hills where our tents were set up.. It was an MSA shindig at G Hills, and the the first time we both met you Al Agnew, We leaned about twin spins, midge oreno's, and how to pick a good buzz bait. 20+ years ago
  7. Cold water and me did B bridge down to Davis 20+ years ago. We were so impressed that we never went back.
  8. The recipe I use is the stewed hen recipe from the Commander's Palace in NOLA...If you have the Commander's Palace Cook book, look it up. Liver Dumplings are pretty good. We usually order some at the Anvil in St. Gen when we go to Hawn State Park but we have not been there in along time.
  9. You can’t go through Montauk at the moment, but you can access anything below the park from the Salem side. Just got back. Sand piles and downed tree all over, thousands of dinky starving rainbows.
  10. We finally have some Mallards on the East Side! It should be good for a few days.
  11. Wow, I hope we will all be surprised by how quickly it recovers.
  12. Last Weds-Friday was great, then no wind and 70 degrees all weekend. Things picked back up this afternoon. Still waiting on a push of Mallards. It was mostly gadwall & teal in the bag last week. We have a loaf of pintails in the area so we’ve laid off the triggers allot.
  13. Still chasing wood ducks around the trees on Saturday, Sunday was dead still. Buddy shot a few this AM, including a drake widgeon (not common at our place). Will probably go tomorrow with a strong North Wind in the forecast.
  14. Pretty slow on the Mississippi. Best day so far on Friday, but it’s still mostly an early morning wood duck pass shoot. Numbers on Cuivte & Dardenne clubs are still low and what is here isn’t moving much. Mallards are scarce, but there are some pintail, teal, and gadwall around.
  15. A buddy sent some pics of the Upper Current yesterday, and it was at least 150-200 yards outside of its banks around Tan Vat. It should be back down by now, but I'm sure there is a ton of debris. Picks from Pulltite CG looks like it got scoured. Firewood should be easy to find this winter.
  16. Justin Spencer is your man. He posts on FB sometimes. Brian Sloss moved to the Catskills a couple years ago and I think he is doing well.
  17. I like Drathaars. My late friend O. B. Blevins (Duck & Fishin Guide/ Crawl Space Remodeler/ part time aluminum can collector, when not in jail) had Drath named Fritz, and Fritz was a great dog. Miss them both.
  18. A good dog is, well you know. I’m glad you have great memories with that one. Buddies dog did great this weekend.
  19. We had a great time this weekend. Mostly teal and wood ducks, but Mallards are starting to trickle in. St Charles County,. Reports from the North (BK Leach area) were not good.
  20. Ice eater & genie got hauled in today. Be safe in the AM, and I hope you all have a great hunt!
  21. Got out and pitched the decoys last weekend, but the east side counts from last week were 45% below LTA. I'm hoping this weeks rain moves a few into the Mississippi R. Valley.
  22. If she has not wheeled you out to the back 40 to die yet, you might want to nicer to her.
  23. Sorry to hear about your buddies illness. Ask him what he wants to do.. A nice float down the Current or Eleven Point would offer better scenery. Justin Spencer is guiding on the Eleven Point these days.
  24. The pink one has been known to fly across levies if you are killing ducks and we are not. Fair warning..
  25. Its looking good! I haven't been out to look, just pressure washing a few dozen.
