  1. You cant really go wrong with an MXH blank from Mudhole if you go the custom route. Have wrapped several, and all have been great. Rainshadow and Northfork Composites make some great blanks too.
  2. That sucks Pete...Hope you heal up quickly!
  3. Looks like fun, and thanks for the report. Glad you stayed dry, Somewhat. I haven't been out yet this spring so very jealous.

    Sucker Days

I'd travel to catch/gig/snag suckers and fry them fresh on a gravel bar, but I wouldn't drive 20 minutes to eat sucker in town. The experience is better than the actual consumption.
  5. Buddy of mine was at Gasconade Hills this AM, they did not float
  6. Gauge is up a bit above normal but no longer falling rapidly, it should be good to go.

    Cheap Gas

You should be able to get a $7,500 tax credit for the Rivian, and another for the charger install. To bad it looks like refrigerator on wheels. Think I'll stick with my F250 until gas gets to $6 a gallon like it is in Europe & California. Chargers were about $2k when we were doing allot of EV credits for client's a couple years ago.
  8. Sorry for your loss. Best to you and your family.
  9. Cool! Love to birdwatch. As for little owls, Screetch Owls are common in MO but rarely seen. They are about the size of a cardinal or starling.
  10. I like a fast action medium blank for topwater up to 1/2oz. North fork composites makes some really nice blanks in the 5..5’-6.5’ range in the Shooter series of blanks. Love my 5’6” NF canoe WTD rod. I use a 6’6” for buzzers & ploppers.
  11. Had some good vacations at the Breezy Palms...Just north of Bud & Mary's on the east side. You can catch bonefish on the flat out front. Enjoy!
  12. Pennycamp has some good snorkeling. Eat some hogfish if you can get some. It’s better than grouper.
  13. I’m not too worried about what may or may not happen. Figured gas prices and taxes would go up. Nothing I can do about it.

    What's Cooking?

Fettuccine Alfredo from scratch last night, frying chicken tonight.
  15. Have seen some catfish when I’ve floated it, plus some limb lines. Have never fished for them there. The water is usually very clear. Almost always catch a catfish or two (on lures) when I float the St. Francis.

    What's Cooking?

Looks good gents. Took a month of social media and did not miss it much. Arcadia Academy had a Monte Cristo Sammie on the menu on our last visit. Interesting spot to visit.
  17. Love Urgent Care. We use them more than our primary care docs. Done in less than an hour usually.
  18. Were is it at? Might be fun to play with on the NFoW, 11pt, or on the tailwaters.
  19. Awesome! Good for you both.
  20. The Boiling Spring in the link is on the Gasconade just downstream of the confluence with the B. Piney, and they are good people. I'm not sure if Boiling Spring Resort on the B. Piney is still in business. You might try Route 66, Wilderness Ridge, or Peck's (Formerly Rich's) Last Resort. Use to be another rental across from Booker Bend, but they closed several years ago.
  21. Mohair leach/bugger rod always rigged & ready. Pat’s Rubberlegs is as good or better. You fish em dead drift like a nymph, not a streamer. Those wild fish love to eat crawfish, and they are very abundant in all the wild trout creeks. Active all year long in those spots, not so on streams with few springs.
  22. FW is the "Fly Fisher" with a can of corn and some cheese bait in his vest.😄!
  23. N. Pike are better eats than Walleye IMO. Nasty and vicious predators they are. It requires a few more cuts to clean one bone free, but great on the table. Need to head up North this year....Time for some Smoked Fish, Pasties, Cheese Curds, Saturday Fish Boil, Giant Cinnamon Rolls...Brook Trout, Pike, and Big Smallmouth.
  24. A friend and his Dad what did what we call the "Nuts with Barry" trip several years ago. They floated the upper Current with dreams of eating large trout, a sack of potatoes, seasonings, and some oil. With Barry, cuz our friend Barry floated in to meet them. No legal fish were caught, and they ended up cast netting and frying chubs with their potatoes. Some friends and me, wanted no part of that trip. We floated a couple days before, and took out when they got there. Knew they were coming down so we played gravel bar socker, with the reserve Large can of Dinty Moore Stew I keep in my kit, and left a nice note for them.
  25. US Navy stopped dumping plastics in the oceans 35+ years ago, Plastic waste is a huge problem,
