  1. Many fish were caught yesterday. Cody won the day with 2 browns 22" and 21.5". I got to witness the 2nd. It was jumping and tailwalking just like ok the videos on TV. Quite a good time. He was quite happy the rest of the day. DJ lost a fish that took lots of drag with a very bent rod, line snapped before he could see it. I got to test my legs in some light current. I am very happy with the results. The food was nothing short of amazing. We had deer tenderloins with fried potatoes for breakfast Cody made a sausage kolache. Dinner was a fried food paradise. Deep fried ravioli, spoon bill caught from lake of the ozarks by brandon, huge shrimp provided by cody, mushrooms, hush puppies that were made/adapted on the fly, and French fries.
  2. Cody and I got here yesterday, we weren't successful at catching for the hour or so we had to fish before dark. We hung at the cabin listening to music and hanging out. I brought a pot of chili, that was dinner. Brandon, his son Eddie and DJ came later in the evening. Got out this morning, Cody and I took the boat while the rest waded across from the cabin. Second cast Cody and I both doubled. Him with a brown, me a rainbow. Water started rising with alot of color, Gras and debris. We went down river by the cabin and found lower clear water. Caught a good number, and had fun watching them take the jigs. Mine were a bit light. So Cody gave me a heavier jig and my numbers increased. We returned to the cabin gathered the others and devised a plan to go out again. Rick arrived, we said our hellos before we left. We tested he limits of Cody's new boat. Brandon and I waded for a bit while the others went up river on the boat. Our conversation was much better than the catching. The boaters did really well. Came back to the cabin for dinner, Cody made crawfish etoufee, somehow I found enough time to take a picture before it disappeared.

  4. Ok, we have steam, we have clearance from Phil and need to get a head count. Who can make it to the Taneyfest gathering at Lilley's Landing on the weekend of January 27? We had a great time at the last one. It would be cool to see everyone again. So far I believe @Daryk Campbell Sr, @fishinwrench, @snagged in outlet 3, @gotmuddy are planning to attend. @BilletHead, @LittleRedFisherman, @grizwilson, @Terrierman, @JestersHK, @fmcbrandon @BigHandsRob, @Seth, @Quillback, @Ham, @mic, @aarchdale@coresleep.com, @cheesemaster, @jdmidwest, @Bill Babler, @Champ188, @Flysmallie, @ness @ColdWaterFshr, @abkeenan @dblades, @liphunter and any others who are active, wanna come out and fish, and eat? If I missed anyone, please tag them. It would be really cool to see everyone. Maybe we could include a fly fishing theme as a bonus.
  5. We are looking at a gathering the weekend of January 27th event at Lilley's. Can you make it?
  6. I am clear for that weekend. Who else would be interested in booking/sharing a room?
  7. Many can't make Jigfest, who would wb interested in a gathering in Jan or Feb? Maybe at Lilley's if there are openings similar to the one a few years ago. So far Cody @gotmuddy myself and potentially Pete @snagged in outlet 3are willing. Who's down to clown?
  8. You are a good sport.
  9. I'm in on a Jan or Feb gathering. Just can't Do the 1st of the year, or Valentines Day. We could possibly do another Taneyfest, rent some rooms or cabins at Lilley's.
  10. I believe it seems only Cody has a boat at this time. I am also no opposed to renting or splitting the cost of a rental. He can't haul all of us. LOL.
  11. I'm good to bring chili, and fixings. Along with a deep fryer and oil with some fryables. Can pick up more if needed.
  12. Be careful. That background shows alot, and it may be fished out when you come back.
  13. I just got a small order of a few colors. Peach, sculpin and olive variations always seem to work for me.
  14. There is a true story I was part of, that played out similar to this while at Boy Scout Camp. I was a teenager and had to drive to camp late. I picked up a friend of mine who was on a different kind of trip. ( I found this out just a handful of years ago.) Whippoorwill doing its thing my buddy starts yelling at it. Screaming at the top of his lungs, "SHUT UP BIRRRRDDD!!!!" "SHUT UUUUUPPPP!!!" People spaced out camping around us had random voices from all around the dark yelling at him to shut up. Quite funny actually. Well the next day the whole camp was pretty upset with the guy yelling at the bird all night. Even with all the noise that persistent bird did not shut up.
  15. I seem to have the same issue. Seems Jim Croce mentioned that in Time In A Bottle.
  16. Really nice looking place.
  17. Many high schools now have fishing teams. I was impressed to see our high school with a fishing team in the Christmas parade last night. We are a few hours from the lakes.
  18. I was looking into that a few years ago. It did not have good reviews. Seems like it would be a good product but people agreed often it had too much flex.
  19. @gotmuddycan you confirm the date for Phil?
  20. I have lost many nights sleep due to whip poor wills. I try not to hold grudges against wildlife especially when I'm in their territory. I try not to.
  21. I have noticed for quite a while now we have been ad free other than Lilley's offerings. I believe we all understand this forum and site is not free. We have discussed membership dues, etc but it wasn't ever settled. How about buying something small ( a jig or few) or large (Nice Flyrod) from Lilley's for yourself or friend, family members, or forum member for the holidays. My order will be going in today as I need a couple new hats. I'm gonna put OAF somewhere on my order so they know it was generated from the forum. Just something ice thought about for a while, and good intentions are worthless without action.
  22. Always a good side.
  23. While it's a long video, and took a while to get to the real issue, he was spot on with so many issues in society. Wrench, you have mentioned the same issues many times just with different words and without the drawings. If we continue as society to recycle the same wrong info, we we will continue to stay in the rut. Thanks for sharing Mitch. Your new offerings are looking really good.
