I don't understand the burning the hair off thing. Is that a method of keeping the hair off the meat while skinning? Killing fleas? Or why? Dunking them in a bucket of water before skinning does a good job if getting some hair on the meat is a problem for you. I was taught not to heat any meat until you're actually ready to cook & eat it.

Right, but keep in mind the next time you stop to BS with another random fisherman.... just how easily they can get butthurt and begin seeking revenge. A wave, nod, or a smile no longer means anything. π

So one of our OAF brethren clicked the link, saw something HE didn't like......and made a formal complaint about it ? I'm sorry but this is rediculous. My God, we are SO DIVIDED! Makes me sad. π’

Oh somebody will buy it, clean it up, and it will be nice someday. I wouldn't ever wanna live on a piece of property that I couldn't use however I feel like. If I wanna hang a deer in a tree, restore an old Camaro, or build a fire-pit in the front yard.... then bygod I'm gonna do it. π

There was a land grab around here 10-12 years ago by a company called Sierra land co.,. and there method of operation was to locate sizable pieces of land that had been taken via "adverse possession" and somehow gobbling them up. They weren't interested in any land near creeks or rivers though because of potential flood concerns. They divided their newly aquired land into 1/2-3/4 acre lots and financed them to people looking for a place to build a home. Only one section that I'm aware of turned into a nice neighborhood, the rest of the Sierra acquisitions are now a scattered slum of old trashy trailers with numerous cars on blocks, and abandoned crackhouses on hillsides and hilltops with heavily rutted driveways. Land along creeks and rivers are always suspect to adverse possession, so if someone is trying to keep you from accessing a creek or river, especially if that person isn't actively farming that land, there is a high probability that they have no legal right to keep you from being there. That includes the county sheriff. His job is actually to PROTECT YOU while you're there. Believe it or not.

Huge sections of land have been taken by adverse possession here around Lake O. Families that owned tiny little homesteads back in the 1930's - 1950's now have GIANT parcels of land. But here's the kicker......They can't sell it now without having it surveyed and all back taxes settled with the state. And apparently the cost to do that is overwhelming, because ALOT of sales or transfers of land have been aborted because of it. You'd think that the state would just TAKE IT in lieu of back taxes..... but for some reason they don't. They just allow it continue to accumulate excess taxes owed. They probably calculate it as going clear back to the end of time. I tried to buy an 18 acre piece of land along Gravois cr. but the cost to do it LEGALLY was totally outrageous and way too headachey to even persue. I did find out though that I can easily avoid any potential trespassing charges that I may be charged with.....so I go there all the time. The one time I was told by a deputy to "GET OFF THE PROPERTY" I inquired as to whose property I was allegedly trespassing on? They never responded and no charges were filed. In order to charge a person with trespassing there needs to be someone holding a legal deed to that property. So while you may be able to "claim" land by adverse possession.....Good luck legally keeping people off of it. π And I certainly wouldn't advise building anything, other than maybe a fence, on that property. You can ask someone to leave, and if they do....then fine. But if you physically remove them, threaten them, or harm them in any way..... You're screwed !

Aerial surveys that you find online mean absolutely nothing as far as where the actual property lines are at, because the grid is just an overlay plastered on top of a Google Earth image.....and it is not done exactly "to scale". I've been through that before with 2 different neighbors. I promise you that whoever created those images did not just automatically put surveyers out of business. π

How in the sam hell are "approval ratings" calculated ? If they could be assumed even slightly accurate I'd love to see approval ratings on a number of things. Is there an Approval Rating website? Who is asked about whether they approve or not? And who approves of THAT person?

I wear cheapies, wash the lenses with spit and my shirt tail, and have never noticed any coatings rubbing off. I've had high-dollar shades in the past RB, Smith, ect., but I honestly can't tell the difference....until I loose or break them...and then the difference is clear as day. π

Chevy difference to GMC trucks

GMC's may be "higher end" but something about the bowtie just makes it cooler. π -
What's your first fish of 2022?
fishinwrench replied to Johnsfolly's topic in General Angling Discussion
I pulled off by the bridge here and got mine on new years day while sugarbritches was shopping. 3 average sized Whites right away on a topwater crease fly over the shallow flat. Phone was in the truck, so no pic. π€·ββοΈ Said phone started ringing so I had to quit after #3..... but I'm pretty sure I could have stood there and limited out. π I bet they are gone now, since this polar blast has settled upon us in full. -
I haven't the foggiest idea what hiit is. It's all hills around here. I actually hate coasting downhill because it seems for every hill you go down there's 2 to pump up. I learned a technique for long hills that really makes them "not so bad"..... but let's face it, they are never enjoyable. The only enjoyment I get from hills is when I ride with the 2 older kids who do the gym daily and consider themselves quite athletic. The old man who smokes a pack of cigs a day will be setting at the top waiting for them to catch up every time. π

I need to ride more but I'm totally burnt out on all of the trails around here, and I'm tired of riding alone. I haven't been on my bike since June.

Wishing you well, brother. Hang in there. ππ

If I just had an understanding of WHY they designed it that way, and the reason made sense to me, then I'd feel compelled to learn the system. But IMO there are way less complicated ways to consistently deliver pressured fuel to the cylinders. -
If you've operated it on low voltage for a period of time then you have likely smoked the armature contacts of the starter, and overheated the solenoid. It's the same type of degradation that occurs with trolling motors after they are operated with a dead or dying battery for a length of time. The entire circuit from battery to armature suffers damage. Low voltage causes excessive heat all through the circuit. This is why today's cordless tools last so much longer than the old ones before nicad battery's came along. They maintain their voltage up until the battery just suddenly dies all together. Lead acid batteries just gradually fall off in voltage until they are dead.

Below Bagnell dam the black buzzards do damage to vehicles. Scratching up the hoods, picking at exposed weatherstripping and windshield wipers, ect. They can be a terrible nuisance once they loose their fear of people.

Letβs have an AWESOME year

When I'm on a temperate bass kick you can't get me to fish for anything else. If you like flyfishing at all, but have never caught Whites, Hybrids, Stripers on the fly then you are definitely missing out. Plus, to they are the best tasting and purest/healthiest fish to eat that we have available to us. -
I've actually seen this before over a strip mining area where we used to ride dirt bikes. Minnows, tadpoles, and petrified little frogs scattered all over the ground several miles from any sizable creeks or ponds.

Nothing wrong with cheaper wrenches as long as they'll fit on the fasteners ok. Wall thickness of the wrenches and sockets, and the degree of angle on the box-end side, is the main complaint with bargain priced tools. Sloppy ratchets that require 1/4 turn to catch the next cog will have you throwing tools across the shop and insulting the parents of everyone around you. Most things I work on are hard enough to get a good tool on, and mediocre tools just make it that much more difficult. Professional mechanics aren't known for their unwavering patience. π Your starter Bendix issue is likely not a problem with the Bendix or the gearing of the starter shaft. Weak voltage caused by a bad battery, sloppy connection, dirty solenoid, worn brushes or a cracked magnet in the starter are what's causing that. If all the other components of the starter circuit are good then you couldn't keep that Bendix from slamming up solidly even if you tried to sabotage it. π Get that figured out and fixed soon, or else you're gonna be out there one day trying to wrap a piece of ski rope around the flywheel and cussing like a sailor.

I'm interested in hearing how this one pans out also. I'll just tell you right now that I'm no fan of the design. It makes no sense. Why would an engine, that is supposed to be very light on fuel consumption, need an electric pickup pump? A simple mechanical vacuum pump should supply plenty of fuel to the vapor separator and boost pump, and it would take a pound or so off the finished weight of the unit. Needing 2 electric pumps just to supply fuel to 3-4 cylinders..... sounds grossly over-engineered to me. Somebody had a fart in their brain when they designed that POS. -
