  1. Yeah well, they also drained their oil on the ground, threw waste of all kinds in ditches and creeks (old appliances, mattresses, shingles, tires ect.) There wasn't a mile of county road free of rusty 55gal. barrels, wads of barbed wire, and various tractor parts. Then there were the "town branches" .......Ugh!..... I could go on for quite awhile longer if anyone 45 or older still needs their memory jogged.
  2. Looks like somebody pissed off their wife.
  3. Not really. Kinda depends on your personality and what you're there for. Mike and his dogs aren't for just anyone. LOL
  4. Crappie don't migrate up creeks to spawn, and resident (creek dwelling) crappie are generally small and thin compared to lake crappie. There is a bunch that congregate just below the slab below Fiery fork but that's about the upstream limit of crappie in the lil'Ni. Greenmill to Prairie hollow is crappie spawn central beginning early-April.
  5. As long as trout management has been going on in Mo. you'd think they'd have it pretty much figured out by now. Pisses me off when they act like it's a new thing, and still in the experimental stages. Things sure seemed to be alot more consistent back when everyone wasn't so blasted smart. LOL Whatever !
  6. Lake O truly lacks in "fishing campgrounds". It's a shame. The only place that comes to mind that you haven't already mentioned is Red Oak, it's on the Osage arm in Standing rock cove, close to the mouth of the Nianguas. Nice ramp, docks and shower house, but more tailored to RVs.
  7. Sweet! I Love those 90° crossflows. The brute of all V6 outboards.
  8. That's the electric fillet knife that I have also, the blades flex and are easy to touch up with a chainsaw file. It has lasted a long time and is still going strong. Even got knocked in a bucket of water and tripped a breaker once. Dried it out and kept right on going.
  9. Trout? Pfffft! Do you just consider it to be "underperforming" because there's a lack of trout? How are the native species holding up?
  10. Hard to forget what was said?.... or who said it? LOL
  11. The only way to effect THEM is by sudden mass non-compliance.... But you'll never get enough folks on board with the balls (or the desire) to pull the plug. All of the folks that matter are comfortable and content with what they "feel blessed" to have.
  12. LOL Really! All this discussion is, is a woulda-shoulda-coulda tournament. Nothing is ever gonna change and nothing is gonna get fixed. A more constructive conversation would be how, as individials, to best deal/live with it.
  13. I think that is what kept ours from ever producing.
  14. My g/f attempted that last year but failed. So if anyone can make it work we'd like to hear about how you did it.
  15. I still have a handful of original Alron jigs around here somewhere. They were what Strike king designed the Denny Brauer flippin' jig around I think.
  16. Oh, you still have some? Mine are but a memory All three packages. I must have a mouse in here.
  17. And you don't feel that the reason your (and my) head is left spinning MIGHT BE because there are unknown facts that you (and me) are not considering? How could you and I know all the determining factors? All WE know is what we have either heard on the news, saw on the web, or heard someone else say. And I'm willing to bet that there are additional details in every situation.....AND a bunch of ENTIRE "situations" that we haven't even been made aware of yet. When someone, or a group of someones whom you know are not bug-nutty-batshit-crazy people, do or say bug-nutty-batshit-crazy stuff, you just gotta assume that there are genuinely good reasons why.
  18. Honestly I am starting to believe that is indeed the case. So much of what seems totally absurd to ME is accepted and defended widely by people who should be way smarter than I am. So I am left to assume that there must be pertinent elements involved that I am just not aware of.
  19. If you get hopelessly addicted to chasing whites on the fly you'll find yourself wanting a 6-7wt. Pretty soon, but you can certainly catch a few with a 5wt. and a few #6 Clousers.
  20. I used to think that too, but I kept getting reminded by guys that are smarter than me that the reason it seemed that way to me was because I am just ignorant of the way things work up there.
  21. Well, it may upset you but you will "take it". What could you possibly do to reverse any ruling or action? Not much. Everyone calls gun ownership "a right", but honestly it is nothing more than a priveledge that can be taken away for simply running out of money or mismanaging your checkbook.
  22. Brush or rock structure in 7-12' is producing as well as the deeper 15-25' stuff (basically anything they can get next to is worth a try until you get a few bites and can put a daily location pattern together. Don't overlook No-Wake bouy cables out in the middle of the coves as one or two of them are likely to have a school of suspended crappie hanging around them, you can often pick up 4-5 before they get wise and quit biting or move. Remember which bouy it was and check it again on the way back in.
  23. The article doesn't mention how much it supposedly weighs, what's the current record? Who can do the math? Big sumbitch regardless.
  24. Let me get a grip on this.... Placed by the hand of God and then protected by humans. -verses- Placed by the hand of a human and protected by humans ? And who placed the humans? Oh yeah...nevermind, I know the acceptable answer to that one. Soooo, what was the question again? (this is a genuine mind bender)
