  2. Isn't it ironic that we spend our first 9 months trying to get out.....and the rest of our lives trying to get right back in !
  3. Exactly. A developer here at L.O. bulldozed himself an 8 acre cove, then connected it to the lake with 3 charges of dynamite. Paid a hefty fine, but then built and SOLD an entire subdivision. In the end I'm sure that he came out like a fat rat. Hey, if your property isn't all lakefront.....then bring the lake to all of your property, right? 😉 The original topo maps don't show it, of course.....But Navonics even recognizes it NOW.
  4. The new Federal Form for purchase of a firearm has 3 boxes in the sex field. Male, Female, Non Binary Well that's kinda handy now isn't it ? Because just because the MALE version of jdmidwest might have a felony on record..... doesn't mean that the female version does. 😅 How cool would it be to declare yourself a single female parent come tax season ? 👍 I bet we could get food stamps, energy assistance, and the whole nine yards !
  5. Has anyone ever had BAD ice cream ?
  6. I think I've shared this here before, but just in case.... If you're having spot-lock issues deploy your TM and take a REAL compass, move it all around, within a foot of the trolling motor bracket, foot pedal, and GPS puck (if so equipped). Any weirdness on your compass headings indicates magnetic feedback from something that is not stainless steel, aluminum, or plastic. I've cured a number of these units by simply tossing a pair of pliers, or a stray crankbait, spinnerbait, or crappie jig to the other side of the deck.
  7. The marketing strategy on these units is SO shrewd 🙄 They have the technology as a whole, but instead of feeding it all to the consumer at once.....they are adding little bits & pieces along with a complete new unit. 100% targeting that percentage of the population that refuses to be left behind for even a single season. The only way to avoid being hosed is to hold off completely, until they have shot their entire wad. This is likely their last Hoo-Rah....so ya know they are going to milk it for all it's worth. Pairing with Spot-lock is coming before long, which will keep you pinpointed on selected targets, even if the target moves...... .And you KNOW FOR SURE that you're gonna want THAT!
  8. Finding and catching catfish in the winter on small lakes is like finding and catching snakes and horsefly's in the winter around small lakes. Try again when the snakes and horsefly's are out. Avoid weedy/mossy areas, and look for old logs and rocks. They'll be spawning from Memorial day to mid-June. Fast dissolving dip bait, like Sonny's/Bowkers/ect. is the quickest way to find the channel cat hotspots.....if you go 15-20 minutes with no bites then move on. Eventually you'll find them if there are any to be found. And if there are no channel cat to be had, then there won't be any flatheads or blues either. Good luck 🤞. Stay after them 👍
  9. Well, I can see that you've never been invited to the polygraph room. 🙂 All questions are brief, and to be answered with a simple Yes, or No. Presbyterian style. 👍
  10. No it wasn't, it was the name of the teacher. Mrs. White. Well, I mean yeah......there wasn't any black kids within 100 miles.....but that wasn't the schools fault. 😁
  11. For over 20 years I kept a very detailed log of my bass fishing outings. It's cool how once I begin reading one from many years ago I immediately recall everything that happened that day. Snags, backlashes, broken rods, reel failures, everything. I even recall the fish that I "reported" as "caught"......but didn't actually lay hands on. Every single one of them. And exactly where they were at. But if you ask me what I had for lunch 2 days ago.......Blank, nothing there. 🤔. Did I even eat lunch? I don't think I did. Wait.....I ALWAYS eat lunch. For all I know I may have children out there that I've forgotten about. Never forget a fish though. 😅
  12. I don't. Not at this time anyway. I try to avoid becoming a salvage yard, but in doing so I miss out on quite a bit of cash. Stuff will pile up around here and then periodically I haul it off to the recycling center. I'll have a pile of good usable parts and it just sits here forever...... but it never fails that as soon as I get rid of it someone will come by looking to buy stuff that I just threw out. 🙄
  13. In my experience using any kind of guts, or even cutbait, for cats (unless you are drifting them) just results in more turtle bites than fish bites. But then again..... Oneshot would just as soon eat a turtle, so....... 😉
  14. You needn't worry, nobody wants to eat a tough ol'bird like you. It's those young tender wine box drinking vegans that had better stay away.
  15. I remember when those became THE TREE that everyone wanted in their yard. And around town squares. They even had us going around town planting them everywhere when I was a Boy Scout. You can thank the biologists of the day for all of that ! And if you think biologists are any better in 2022 you're just dense. 😅 The things they are doing today will be the things that they curse tomorrow. And I promise you that Hybrid Stripers will be one of those things.
  16. Altitude ? 🤔 Fighter jets are typically closer to the ground, no?
  17. Saved! 👍 (Hopefully I won't need it, but....) Safe around the nose, mouth, and eyes? 'cause they always get it straight in the face !
  18. Hell I've been there a bunch since then. I had no idea they changed the name ! Hmm 🤔 It'll always be Mallard Bay to ME. 😉
  19. I knew there was something to that cantation that I was missing. Thanks! 👍
  20. Yeah, did a gravel bar fish fry on the Little Niangua several years ago and the spotted bass were so full of them that you couldn't even eat them (or at least I didn't want to). Practically more worm meat than fish meat. I only filleted two Smallmouth from there and they were void of the worms, as were the green sunfish and bluegill. So I'm curious if spotted bass are more susceptible to infestation of those Anchor worms (or whatever they are called).
  21. Oh BS! I tried the tomato juice thing on my doberman back when I was a teenager. Didn't freakin' work ! Couldn't get close to that dog for 2 weeks.
  22. Critters are on the move. Cleaned a mess of crappie Tuesday evening. Then last night I made a quick run to grab soda, beer, and smokes. Pulled back into the driveway and was getting out of the truck when I noticed some movement between the shop and the house. Looked closer.....SKUNK ! So I got back in the truck and waited as it casually sniffed around my fish cleaning table, then gingerly headed across the road where I threw the guts. Man, if he would have let loose a load of spew that close to our front door.....that woulda sucked ! I truly hope that he isn't going to be a frequent visitor because if so it's inevitable that Orion is gonna get the juice. Just Great! 🙄
  23. Always. 👍
