  1. ...ran a bunch of coat hanger shear pins thru one about like that. That was a sand eater for sure.
  2. It just don't seem right to say "Rest in Peace" to Jerry Lee Lewis, so... keep rockin' man.
  3. Heck, you can get the real deal on Amazon now... https://www.amazon.com/Extruded-Floating-Grow-Out-Bluegill-Striped/dp/B08WZJKZSJ/ref=sr_1_2?crid=J088W50BKFTT&keywords=trout+feed+sinking&qid=1667153486&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjAwIiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=trout+feed+sinking%2Caps%2C193&sr=8-2 looks like I linked the floating version, they have sinking too.
  4. Pig pellets.
  5. That's completely awesome, to get where you did in a season. If I had a hat on, I'd take it off in your honor. 👍
  6. And the headline says... Weiner wounded wainbow's wast westing pwace.
  7. One of the best;
  8. Good call. Saw some isolated good stuff on 248 from Cassville to Flat Creek today. 76 was a letdown. Spotty frosts likely this week, so maybe next weekend. Flat Creek today at noon;
  9. "Forty-two-year-old Jacob Runyan, of Broadview Heights, Ohio, and 35-year-old Chase Cominski, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, were indicted Wednesday in Cleveland on felony charges of cheating, attempted grand theft, possessing criminal tools and misdemeanor charges of unlawfully owning wild animals." They’re due to be arraigned Oct. 26. Looks like that pretty Ranger qualifies as an accessory forfeiture too.
  10. Barge tows are running aground on the mid/lower Mississippi almost daily now, with corn & bean loads getting stranded. If they can profit from discharging to aid that situation, makes sense to me.
  11. Happy Birthday old timer! You've got me beat by ~ 7 months. That fire across the sky? That was your getup and go getting up and going. 🤭
  12. I didn't know there were yellow bass in Beaver... bummer. That said, I think the most likely source would have been bait dumps like Ham said. Since lots of Beaver striper guides (used to) net their shad below Grand (and other AR river tribs), I'd suspect some yellows were netted with the shad, then tossed out when noticed or when cleaning out their shad tank. I've ended up with a few yellows that way myself, but I always culled them before leaving the place I caught them. I'd never waste my time trying to use one for bait, even if it was legal. Those things are like their distant cousin the porcupine, and I doubt any self-respecting striper or catfish would eat one unless that's all there was. 😬
  13. Yeah, and realizing that school of bass you couldn't buy a bite in was really big gizzard shad is helpful too.
  14. Conway and Nimrod are both also good AR crappie lakes. That said, if there's any lake around with a majority, or even an abundance of 2+ lbers, they'll get caught as soon as word gets out. I expect you'll have to do like the rest of us, sorting thru the dinks until you get lucky. A lake that doesn't have a "crappie lake" reputation might actually offer the best chance at some biguns.
  15. OA needs a new section for well-intentioned but potentially dangerous medical advice. On a semi-related note, did you hear the one about the epitaph on a hypochondriac's gravestone? "I told you I was sick!"
  16. As rusty as the front plates on those switches are, looks like they 'been wet long time'. Not likely to look any better inside. Shameless plug... DeOxIt. IME the hands down best contact cleaner. You have to get it online (Parts Express), and it ain't cheap. Intended for electronics with sliding or rotary potentiometers. Works on switches too. Find a hole to spray inside the switch, then soak it and work the switch thru all positions while it's wet. About the price of a 12 pack to fix it if it works, worth a shot. OTOH, you can buy a whole switch gang pretty cheap (Ebay). You can do the whole thing for the price and effort of messing with a single. Added... Oooops, just reread and realized you're way ahead of me. Sorry, Friday night on Labor Day weekend and all that,,,🥴
  17. For context, this is from a guy that actually lived in a van down by the river once...
  18. Whether intentional or of necessity, driving an old pos truck to the river is the key to avoiding incidents. Can't steal a converter that ain't there... give the impression that you might be the one they should worry about. Budweiser bumper sticker and a Cool Hand Luke hula girl bobbing on the dash.
  19. Very glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Sending you a healing feeling.
  20. I had the original Skeeter 'glass boat with a 25 Merc & stick, it was the most fun boat I ever had. You could run it to the back of a creek and turn around in 16'. Put a lot of fish over the side of that boat.
  21. Oh yeah, if you hear splashes that sound like pianos falling from the sky, throw whatever you have tied on at the sound as quick as you can.
