  1. What a haul! Nice and fresh too.
  2. Had a chance to look a bit this morning, found these stragglers. Would have liked to have found that big one a week ago. After trimming the questionable spots there's still a good mess for me. Weird year, the woods are just now "right" according to the flora, but the morels came in with the redbuds a couple weeks early here. I think ours are done.
  3. Bang the drum slowly. Biggest one I've seen.
  4. ...or squirminess. Best to net them and leave 'em in the net till release.
  5. Then we'll never know for sure if his "state record" seed tick isn't stuffed with lead weights. 🀣
  6. That's the ticket, get that thing x-rayed... πŸ˜†
  7. The limit of current consumer FFS ability is the size of the boat. Or at least how much of your boat you're willing to use for it. The really cool stuff is simply too big and complex for a bass boat. Check out the CODA Octopus system they're using at the Key site now. Heavy equipment operators are building underwater riprap structures with live displays of where their loads went. It all trickles down from DoD tech, and we can only guess at that.
  8. I finally got a little mess. Had an extra 15 minutes after gassing up Sunday AM, went a couple blocks and parked in a new trail biker lot, walked ~100ft to a tree I'd found 'em on years ago when it was 'country'. Bingo! Stepped in a mudhole up to the top of my boot on the way back, went to an Easter get together with muddy britches. Checked 3 other spots after lunch, nada. Just enough for a mess for me. Thank you Lord! I'm guessing 5-7 days old, shoulda gone when I first felt it. Once again, we get the cold spell at the wrong time.
  9. Got me.
  10. Finally got my meatloaf today. I'll be doing this again.
  11. When there's nothing to hang up on, there ain't no juice. At least for the ones that like hangin' around decorated snags.
  12. Pot, meet black kettle. πŸ˜‰
  13. You can search a sandbar with a crank quicker than you'll draw one with bait.
  14. I get that. But I have jerk-hooked a lot of bait. Tied up to a bluff snag at night with a light out... get a big school of threadfins or immature gizzard shad goin' under the light with a 1/2 oz lead at the end and three aberdeen crappie hooks about 8" apart. All you had to do was jerk thru the shad till you hit one, then let it drop a few feet below the school. Bang! Crappie, flathead or walleye. Gotta admit I never tried to hook bait I already had... what's the point? ☺️
  15. I predict sometime in the near future one of you micro guys will be trying to convince us what a valiant fight that lunker guppy put up. πŸ˜„
  16. Don't worry about it, I've seen dogs yak on lotsa stuff. Who really knows what makes a dog yak anyway?
  17. How far back in Indian did you go? That last 1/4 mile can be awesome when the shad are there.
  18. Put a net like that on a cheap, aluminum telescoping handle and you'd be in business. https://www.zizette.com/products/telescopic-handle-aluminum Still, I can't see how any net would help in a situation where it's bite/lift/lost in just a second or two... πŸ€”
  19. Cast nets work great for your lunker micros, but the non-lunkers swim right through 3/8 mesh. πŸ˜‰ Do I get bonus points for using "lunker" twice?
  20. To be fair, I imagine those folks felt the same way about you... πŸ˜† Awhile back I was in the checkout line at the grocery store behind some 'just-moved-here-from Californians' who were obviously perturbed that the lady in front of them was discussing the weather with the clerk. I interrupted them with; "You... just... have... to... get... used... to... things... taking... a... little... longer... here."
  21. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
  22. Saw this tidbit of evidence to add to the pile; What Happened When a Man Got 217 COVID-19 Vaccines?
  23. So the best time is still available, sans on the water home theaters. I don't see a problem then, it's just like it used to be, let the idjits have the day and have the night to yourself. On TR, fishing night vs day is like... well... night and day. FFS would have to follow active, moving fish at night, but it's safe to assume anyone making both ffs and tm's could implement that feature. But then you'd be trolling... From the bow... I've been pretty amazed by things that I've experienced on TR at night.
  24. Is anyone using FFS at night? Does anyone even fish at night anymore?
