Sorry for your loss. I have a friend from HS that lost her child at the same age. Brain tumor I believe. I know she still has problems to this day with it. Very sorry for you and your family. Just take it one day at a time and that is about all you can do.

My wife is an RN for Mercy and thank God she wasn't scheduled that night. Although the next day she had to report to the make shift shelter out of Memorial Hall. It wasn't just bad, it was horrific and if you ask someone who actually lived through that one they will tell you that every time those sirens go off (even for tests) the feelings just overwhelm them. My ex mother in law was one of the ones that made it out of the nursing home alive, but since it was a complete shambles she was moved to another one. Two days later she died. No one did an autopsy so who knows if that was part of it or not.

Downstream Access Below the Conservation Area ?
ollie replied to 2sheds's topic in Roaring River State Park
I would second what Devan said. Smallies just aren't in there from the lake. I have fished that area a bunch of times and never caught or seen one. You used to be able to park below the bridge at 86 and fish that, but then again I only caught largemouth out of there as well. -
I love kayak fishing as well, but I wouldn't dare get out on the main part of a lake in one! Back coves and along the shoreline would be the safest bet not to get run over!
-
That's the one. Didn't think anyone else knew the name of it! lol It sure doesn't fish like it used to that is for sure. Most of the time it is covered in moss as well, but not this last week.

Update on this project. Got all the parts needed for this finally on Thursday afternoon and took the truck over the next day for him to work on. Right off the bat I was pissed off when I opened the box of injectors and I found 5 good ones and a core from someone else engine in the box. Now I have to use one of my older ones since we have the intake off and the fuel meter body. 🤬 After it was put back together we bumped the key and gas shot out of there like a fountain! One of the injectors didn't get seated well enough so back to taking it apart again. After that issue was taken care of I took it for a spin. Ran great until I found a hill to climb. Started up the hill fine, but when I got it up over 55 it started to misfire again. Turned around and drove back to the mechanics house. When he plugged in the code reader it came back as a misfire on cylinder 3 again. So here I went and spent a bunch of money on something that didn't need done. The problem is deeper into the block. Either a problem with the cylinder itself of the lower gasket could have a leak next to it that is taking in air. I'm done. Selling it whenever I get the chance. It's not worth sinking more money into it at this point. If it weren't my daily driver I might keep it and work on it when I had the chance, but I can't keep driving it this way. Then yesterday on the way home I heard a noise under the body like when you drive over a branch and it gets stuck. I pulled over and looked underneath and found the problem right away. A metal strap used on the gas tank for support rusted through and half of the strap was just hanging down dangling and hitting the tank. Enough of this pos

Took Buzz to a small lake in SW MO between Noel and Jane yesterday. I have known about this place since I was a small kid and have memories of catching lots of bass out of it. It is a day lake where you pay at the mailbox down the road. Been that way ever since. Fast forward to the current and the fishing is a LOT tougher than when I was a kid! lol The way I understand it is that the lake was formed in the mid 50's and it is fairly deep as well. So I guess when I was a kid in the late 60's it still had a lot of stocked fish in it, but no much anymore. There are bass in there that is for sure, but the dynamics of the lake have changed more than likely. I fished it before about 5-6 years ago and didn't do so great on it as well. Since then every time I have went by there it is mossed over big time. So I went last week and was surprised to find that the water was down and super clear. They had also cut a lot of timber next to the shoreline to clean it up as well. Looked pretty good so I gave it a go. I only caught two that day, but it was nice to see the lake was in better shape. I also got stuck in soft grass and had to get the lady down the road to yank me out! Now to yesterday. We got there around 8 and when we pulled up the water was up big time and all the timber was muck floating all over the lake! That hard rain that flooded out much of NWA brought that lake up about 4 feet. I won't lie, it was tough again to fish. Buzz hooked up right out of the gate with a nice 15" on top water so we thought that was a good sign, but we soon found out it wasn't. I finally hooked up with a bass about 10", but the best part of that was it was on a new rod I had out a couple of times already and hadn't caught anything on. Got the skunk off of it finally! Then I scored again not long after that with a 16". That would be all for me and then Buzz caught another one that went about the same size as my first one. That was in 3+ hours of fishing. We called it quits after that and came home. Buzz bait and spinnerbait were what we caught them on. Couldn't get a bite from anything else we threw.

And then it was over. 🙁 Well, not completely over yet. I did get a feed from yesterday with someone and friends catching the piss out of them somewhere up above 10c bridge. They were in some shallow water and apparently hammered them! probably hit and miss now.

Funny how you never really know all the tricks those guys use on TV just to make a show. I remember growing up watching Wild Kingdom on Sunday night thinking WOW that was incredible. After I got older and learned a lot of those shots were staged I lost the appeal for those kind of shows.

I was brought up that way as well, but something changed over the years for me. Mainly I just don't really like the taste of fish. Has to do with getting deathly sick after eating some one time. Not only one time, but twice! That and cleaning them is just a pain the butt. I should point out however that if I catch a Walleye that one is hitting the grease! That is one good eating fish to me and it doesn't bring back those funky memories and smells when eating it. JMO

I ordered 6 remans from Rock Auto and they were by an American company called GB Remanufacturing out of CA I think. I tried so many places online to get the whole kit or even a discount on 6 news ones, but to no avail. Hopefully they will be in by Friday so I can get the job done this weekend! Two places online had advertised kits for this particular engine, but when I actually made the phone call to them they both didn't have what I needed. One told me they had no idea why it was still listed on the website since the one pictured only fitted up to 2002 models and the other one was a rebuilt kit that the guy told me they had just got out of remans for gas engines. They only did diesel anymore. At least they were both honest and saved me time and money in the long run.

So now I am looking for injectors and I can't believe how much they are! 🤬 Since this year is a split year I am having a hard time finding what I want. I found individual ones on several websites, but jeez, they want anywhere from $70-120 bucks. I figure since I am going to have that all apart I might as well get all six replaced because my luck six months to a year down the road another one will go bad and then I will have to spend the money all over again to take the top half of the motor apart. I found a complete kit with the plenum and injectors, but now I find out the code is different than mine and won't fit. Too bad since it was a new one and was less than $300. So my question now is do I go with reman injectors and take the chance or not. I am skeptical about using a reman on this job so I'm not too sure. Anyone have good luck using reman parts on their vehicle for something like this? I have used rebuilt before for other items such as alternator, but never for something like this. Opinions?

Well, found out a couple of things wrong with the truck last week. The MAF sensor was indeed bad, even the one I picked up from the salvage yard. After that was replaced with a brand new one it runs better, but there is still a misfire. After clearing all the codes only one remained and it pointed to the 3 cylinder. Checked the plug and it was hardly firing so to speak. We have determined the fuel injector is the culprit and in a week when I can get some more money saved up we will fix that. That is something my mechanic is going to do since I have never taken the top half of a motor apart! Everything else checked out and this was basically the only other thing left.

They stock the fish from the bridge. Many years ago they stocked by the old wooden bridge (sadly it collapsed recently) and at the mill pond. They also used to stock the middle of the stream where the ford is and then down below at the other bridge. They would actually pull down to those spots, but now they just stock off the bridge or at least that is what I gather since there isn't any where to pull down to those spots any more. That and the last few years they haven't really stocked any numbers to speak of. If you were able to hook up with several fish then they just stocked. Otherwise it would have been tougher on you to fish! BTW I have parked there several times and seen others park and fish there as well. Maybe new people are living there taking care of the park now. They do hire a caretaker for the park and they live in that first house going into the park.

Like I said earlier, I had a 90 S-10 with the 4.3 and a manual transmission and that truck never let me down. Some of you know the way to Eureka Springs via 62 and when you start getting close you are climbing hills all the time. I could have that truck loaded to the gills and I never once had to take it out of 5th to climb those hills. Truck was super light in the backend though and would get stuck on anything somewhat wet or slick! As in the tires would just spin. lol

I am taking the truck to a mechanic friend of mine on Thursday and we are going to check out a lot of things! He's good and knows his stuff so I am comfortable with him looking into it. He has never burned me and I can trust him so that is a plus. I don't have all the equipment to hook up for those tests and he does. Not so sure about the fuel leaking into the intake since it starts with no problems and normally on the first try. Idles well too. Just can't make a hill with a load on the motor! Doesn't matter how fast I am going up that hill as well. If that motor has to get fuel at a constant amount it just starts to bog down and misfire.

07 Silverado, but basically guts of an 06. Split year on it, but everything under the hood is 06. Haven't checked on fuel trim and yes, that is the only code it shows.
-
Went and spent $20 at the salvage yard for another MAF sensor just to see what would happen and I was surprised, but not really. The truck does run a lot better, but still has the misfires when under a load. Before I could feel the misfires going down the road over 40, but now that has disappeared. The engine light now only flashes at higher speeds like it did when I first got the truck. Back to the drawing board.
-
That was hard for him to do I can tell. Prayers to his family.
-
Ok, so last night I unplugged the MAF sensor and drove around some. Didn't really notice any difference in performance. It might have been actually better. Of course engine light stayed on, but when I went up a hill it did not flash. Plugged the sensor back in and when I went up a hill the engine light started flashing. Beginning to think I need to replace that for sure. Even if it doesn't completely fix the problem, I probably need a new one. I keep forgetting the truck ran for who knows how long without the proper air flow getting into the engine. I am guessing maybe it damaged that wire?
-
Just sooo many things to check and what it could be! I have had the truck a little over a year now and it has always done this, but not to this extent. You can feel misfires going down the road as well. Now at lower speeds you can't really tell, but once you get it over 40 you can feel it. The truck has never been cared for you can tell when driving it. As far as the motor goes that is. The one thing I have noticed though is when I first got the truck the engine light never came on until I was at higher speeds and over 2k in rpms. After I replaced the air filter and cleaned out the box that had a huge mouse nest in it the truck actually runs at lower rpms. I also cleaned off the MAF, but maybe it is the culprit. I mean the tune up makes the truck run with less stress, but now the engine light comes on more and more.
-
Complete tune up in the last 6 months. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and air filter. Cleaned the MAF as well. Doesn't seem to matter at what speed I am going as well. It always happens when the motor is under a heavier load. As in when it down shifts from overdrive to deliver fuel and air. If I am going up hill and that happens the engine light will start flashing and I start losing power. As soon as it levels out the light will stop flashing and go away. That and you can feel it misfiring going down the road. I'm thinking of taking the intake manifold off and checking for leaks there. I have read that is pretty common. I mean it could be in the cap I bought since it was a cheaper one and I know there is a lot of heat getting to it, but at only six months you wouldn't think that.
-
I'm going to just throw this our here since I am at a loss right now on what to think about it. Has anyone experienced problems with this motor before and if so did you have issues with random misfires? One of the main reasons I bought the truck was because of the simplicity to work on the motor. I had one in an S-10 that I drove the piss out of and I found it to be pretty easy to repair most of things on it myself. Fast forward and now I own one in a Silverado and it is driving me crazy! I know it could be one of MANY different things, but I just can't isolate it. I'm thinking either vacuum leak somewhere or a sensor has gone bad. I am leaning more towards a vacuum leak at this point. Code P0300 is such a random code and it is the devil! lol Although I am not ruling out other possibilities since I think this will be more of a try this and then try this type of thing. I don't want to dump a bunch of money into it as well. If I have to do that then I will sell the truck. If anyone has had this motor with this type of issue please chime in. Thanks

Happy face there! I'm going to try and get down there after work this week if I can. Too good of an opportunity not to pass up this week!

Nice. I take the water wasn't too high? Yeah, Blunks is a zoo this time of the year when the whites start running that's for sure. Glad you had a good time. I've been thinking about that float for sometime now and just have never got to do it. Hopefully this will be the year.
